For those who dont know, lucid dreams are when you are dreaming and realise it so you can do absolutely anything, fly, read minds, smash walls, with no consequence.

So here is a interesting question: if you had a lucid dream, what would you do?

I personally would do some cool Matrix fighting :D

Have sex with Matt Damon.

Matt... Damon...

I have those sometimes... other members of my family never do, and my mom thought I was making it up. I only just read about it after seeing Vanilla Sky and googling them. Usually I only walk through walls and fly (Hancock-style, believe it or not. Which has been the case since before the movie came out).. the basics, you know...

They're really cool... I wish I had them more often; Although, it depends greatly on what music I listen to as I'm sleeping (funnily enough)

If I could do anything? I don't know.. the funny thing is that when I dream my priorities are different so what I want now wouldn't necessarily be what I'd want in a lucid dream..

Your lucky you have a natural gift. I am gonna train myself so I can do it, should be fun! :D

Oh yeah, if you practice enough, you can do anything. Thats what appeals to me, its like being god!

Apparently you can train yourself to increase the odds of having them. Wiki article

I'm trying a few of them myself. I figure, as long I'm asleep it's not wasting time, right? :D

Yeah, I read the Wikipedia article today, I am interested in this and this as they are easy, quick, and proven. It seems all you have to do is wake up in your REM cycle and keep yourself aware while you fall asleep and hope for the best!

I am gonna try FILD tonight with the water method and see how it goes.

LOL, very true :D

I lucid dream most nights, usually I just wonder about where I find myself and look at pretty things. Sometimes they can get a bit full on or scary, I find I can just struggle out of them if they do though.

Again, another lucky one! :D

Have you done stuff like flying?

This seems as good a place as any to post this lovely story:

Help me to find my dream girl – Ugly Betty

thegirlofmydreams.jpg

WHEN most men picture their ideal woman she may resemble the likes of actresses Brigitte Bardot, Scarlett Johansson or Angelina Jolie.

But for one Hampshire student his ideal girl is a dead ringer for none other than US television star Ugly Betty.

Now Adam Pacitti has launched a nationwide crusade to find the girl – a lookalike for the sitcom character famous for her braces and thick-rimmed glasses.

His hunt comes after the mystery girl literally appeared in the 20-year-old’s dreams.

After waking in the early hours, he immediately drew a picture of the woman that he imagined that night.

Despite his sketch being a little basic, Adam insists that she is the most beautiful woman he has ever known.

He said: "Some people have said that she looks like Ugly Betty, although I'd never seen the show, but I've seen some pictures of her before.

"If anything it's a bit unfortunate that some people say she looks like a character called Ugly Betty, but there you go."

Adam has been joined in his search by friends, spending £300 distributing thousands of leaflets in London and Portsmouth.

The University of Winchester English student has also launched a website where friends can also log sightings.

Six weeks have now passed since he had the dream, and in that time his site has attracted thousands of hits from America, Australia and even South Korea to help in the search.

Adam, of Ebden Road, Winnall, said a few pictures had been e-mailed to him of women that came close to the description, but were not a perfect match.

He said: "I don't want to be too precise in describing her, but when I see her I'll know. One thing I remember from my dream is that she is shorter than me, but given that I'm 6ft 4in, that's not saying much.

"I can see myself looking for her for many years until I find her. If I do find her, I think the first thing I'll say is 'will you marry me?' and afterwards, I think I'll have to explain all the background very quickly!"

Is a lucid dream like a waking dream?

A dream so "real" it seems like you're awake and not dreaming.

Basically, yes, coz you have to do things so you know your actually dreaming, but you can do things like flying etc.

I'd say it's the exact opposite. A waking dream is very real and uncontrollable and is often unpleasant. A lucid dream is a dream where you are fully aware of the dream, you have full control of your world.

They are similar in the sense they are vivid and seem real unless you find some way to find out its a dream.

For the past few mights I have had lucid dreams where I am about to fall of a cliff... It became lucid because I thought "hold on, this happened before, its just a dream, and since when did I spend time hanging off cliffs anyway", unfortunately, coz of how scared I was (adrenaline causes dreams to end) I woke up sweating! I jolted up, too, and had a physical feeling in my feet they just slipped off a surface!

I am gonna try this in the morning as soon as I wake up, but in the state when I am half-asleep half-awake
