The homosexual/heterosexual ratio in this thread is pretty high! Are Mac users predominantly gay or something??

Anyways, my vote would probably go to Caterina Murino, the dark-haired Bond woman from Casino Royale. XD

I tried the finger-induction thing this morning when I woke up a bit before my alarm...fell right back to sleep and had a false-awakening. It was pretty cool, I 'woke up' and said to myself that the stupid finger thing hadn't worked and now I was awake before my alarm. So naturally I proceeded to leave my body as a silvery liquid, get out of bed and become Barack Obama for just a moment before my alarm went off. :D Gotta work on my reality checks.

I'm very pliable and do well with hypnosis (self or guided) and meditation and stuff, so it's not surprising that this worked the first time.

Cool!

I am gonna try again tonight (its half ten here in the UK) and see if it works! I am using the water method to get me up at the right time then I will do a DEILD or FILD.

I think I've only had two or three of these so-called 'lucid dreams' in my whole life.

Most of the dreams that I can remember are of boring everyday type activities, but I do tend to have a lot of dreams about close friends dying. It's kind of weird because It's not like I see them die or anything, the dream is more about me talking to other friends about that person being dead. Then when I wake up in the morning I spend about 5 minutes thinking "God, I can't believe (insert name here) is dead", until I realise that it was just in a dream. That happens probably once or twice a fortnight.

Also, I really hate that thing where you suddenly get the sensation of falling very suddenly. I get that at least once every night, normally just as I'm about to get to sleep.

But it always takes me ages to get to sleep. The average person supposedly falls asleep 7 minutes after their head touches their pillow, but due to part of the way I am affected by dyspraxia, it takes me between 50 and 80 minutes to get to sleep absolutely every night unless I have a reason to be extremely tired (for example being up for 24 hours+ or running a marathon etc.)

Approximately 18%

I'd say it's even higher amongst core members (those who visit and post daily).

It's because we all know MR is the best place to pick up guys on the interwebs (or just stalk them). ;)

Oh, we so do. :D

*snaps fingers*

No offense, but I can usually spot someone gay trying to be stylish a mile away - whether for better or worse it depends on personal taste - but to me it's a bit too flamboyant (think Carson Kresley or something).

I am the definition of classic, fashion taste. You couldn't beat my style on one of my bad days. :D

I've only been able to realize I'm dreaming and "take control" twice. I remember learning about lucid dreaming from a psychology professor.

This first time I ever had a lucid dream, I remember talking to someone in my dream saying "You aren't real, who are you? Why are you in my dream?" and the guy answered "I'm your ideal partner". What threw me off was that it was totally opposite of the type of guys I liked. So either I was in denial at the time or I lied to myself.

The second time, I was dreaming about my keys (I had misplaced my keys and when I stress about something, I tend to dream about it). I asked my roommate where they were and she told me they were in the garage. Sure enough, I woke up and went to the garage...right where they were in the dream.

Your lucky you have a natural gift. I am gonna train myself so I can do it, should be fun! :D

Oh yeah, if you practice enough, you can do anything. Thats what appeals to me, its like being god!

It works, I've done it. The biggest problem with lucid dreams is that once your mind realizes you're asleep it is prone to waking you up. Another side effect is that I don't have nightmares anymore. I kind of miss them.

This is what's happened to me every single time that I can remember. As soon as I realize I'm dreaming, I wake up. Rather disappointing.

As for what I'd do if I COULD control it, well, I'm not picky. Flying through outer space or deep sea diving without a helmet would satisfy me. Something extreme that I'd like to do in real life, only without all those obnoxious safety risks and restrictions. :)

I get those type of dreams that feel so real sometimes. Most of the time I'm flying around somewhere not too far from my house, and in the city. I've been having those sort of dreams about every month or so, and since I was about 3 years old. When I'm flying I'm not cold or anything, and I don't seem to have any control- feels like I'm on AutoPilot :D.

Yeah, there are ways to stay asleep like spinning around, rubbing your hands, touching things around you and shouting "INCREASE LUCIDITY" all while your in the dream of course.
