What would you do if you found out you only had a year to live - in reasonable health? This question is inspired by a friend who took out the biggest loan she could, in the knowledge she would not have to repay it, and took her partner and son on a world trip, stayed in Kerala for a month, had a great time, came back to the UK, and died one month later.

Wouldn't the debt pass on to her partner?

I'd spend all the time I could with my kids but wouldn't tell them the bad news until near the end. I'd also record a series of videos for them to watch on birthdays and important events, just to sort of keep me in their life when I was gone.

if i had a year to live, i would work my ass off getting songs written and done, and play gigs everywhere, i would go out to meet those who have influenced me most, and i would post it all here on MR before my heart pulses for the final time. I would probably want to die in an interesting way as well... i would jump on roofs of city buildings like crazy, and if i miss, well it was coming for me 😀

I'll tell you what I'd do..........two chicks at the same time.
I think he was asking what you'd do that you wouldn't have tried to do anyway.

I'd skip the chicks and post on MacRumors.

I'd give up work and put my flat on the market.

I'd spend the equity travelling to places that I've always wanted to go to along with family/friends and doing things that I've wanted to do - probably a round the world trip and doing all the things that my sensible head usually tells me is too risky/stupid.

I think if they bought something tangible the bank could reposess it. However its a bit hard to ask for a vacation back isnt? 😀

But the money that paid for the holiday was a loan of the bank's money.

You're obviously unaware of Australian slang...
Indeed. Now I'm afraid to find out what "chicks" are down under.

Oh, wait... I mean "Down Under".

Well, "Skip" is a kangaroo, for a start. Go figure, as you Americans are inordinately fond of saying.

So would I.

And the rest of the time, I'd take Chinese classes (too long to explain here).

I would do the same thing i do every year.

Go to school learn and hope that i could get cured. Since I can die at any moment why think about it.

i would give up work. write. relax. travel. and spend time with my friends. but really not all that different than my daily life.

I think I'd probably work hard to earn as much money as possible and make the necessary arrangements for my death to soften the blow to friends and family members, then go back to the Burj Al Arab in Dubai for a couple of weeks.

Quit work, make my wife take a year off and then spend as much time with her and my daughter as possible doing all the things we have planned to do in the future.
