The last meager storm we had hear in the east cost last November we lost power for 10 days
no internet, 8 days from comcast,
no cell from AT&T for 3 days
Verizon was working no problem:mad:

I put that as pure chance than to prove Verizon is better during natural disasters. Back in August when that 5.9 earthquake struck the DC area, my AT&T iPhone 4 was having no problems with calls or texts. Where my friends with Verizon couldn't make calls or text for awhile.

Anyway, I went with Verizon for the free tethering and the better LTE network( in terms of coverage at least).

Having a AT&T iPhone and Verizon iPad gives you the benefit that if one carrier fails during a disaster, or you don't get service for whatever reason... the other carrier might, so it keeps you covered with both in case one fails.

AT&T LTE rollout is slow. I live in Memphis and haven't seen expansion plans for it anytime soon. If it comes out next year then I will consider iPad 4 wi AT&T. Verizon LTE is here and works quite well, I live in the country and even get LTE at home. Now for iphone. I am sold on the talk and surf deal. I do it more than I thought I did. Once an LTE version of the iphone comes out I will have to consider it but for now my AT&T iphone works well. I also use my phone as a hotspot, so I have 4gb I could run through with hspa+ and combined with the Verizon lte with hotspot, I have lots of data to run through and cover all gaps there could be in network service.

LTE is more widespread and reliable then ATT.
im leaving for florida next week and everytime i drive down there with just ATT I have no service for half the ride.

I have AT&T for my iPhone and a Verizon MiFi device. I got the Verizon iPad so I can switch my Sim Card (after I cut it down) between the iPad and MiFi whenever I want. This way I have a 5GB plan for both my MiFi and iPad. I have had the Sim Card in the iPad since I got it on Friday and it works awesome.

Plus Verizon LTE is better data coverage when travelling.

What Sim cutter & adapter did you use? Any issues taking it out of the iPad and popping it back in the VZW MiFi?

That would be the reason why I would get a Verizon iPad and an AT&T iPhone

Between my wife and I, we have two AT&T iPhone 4 and an AT&T iPad 2 already. I thought having a Verizon device would be good for diversity, plus in this area AT&T is a little behind Verizon on LTE. Plus i liked the fact that i could potentially use an AT&T SIM in it also, which gives me more options when I travel. I do wish they had a 3gigabyte plan also.

I personally did it for these reasons.

1. I won't be getting the LTE iPhone this fall.
2. I don't think there's LTE in this area where I live.
3. Verizon has better coverage for overall traveling.
4. Verizon has more LTE coverage than AT&T
5. Hotspot so I can tether to my iPhone if I ever need to.
6. The "hopefully" future ability to put my AT&T SIM in my Verizon iPad and have HSPA+ speeds on my iPad

But I do wish Verizon offered 3GB plans instead... but eh.

What about you?

1.) Data has sucked on my iPhone through iPhone 4S with AT&T for data and voice. 50% of the time even with 3 bars showing I can't simply load a webpage. Even with Verizon on EVDO, with 1 bar I can always get a data connection.
2.) Verizon has LTE in every area I go in my state (Portland, OR). The closest AT&T LTE is San Franciso. No announced dates from AT&T, so nothing in my area until at least 2013 (maybe longer).
3.) Plans for higher data amounts if I want them from Verizon, none for AT&T.
4.) $20 dollar plan for 1GB versus AT&T $15 plan for 250MB for months I don't use much.
5.) Free tethering for my MacBook Air!

3 Simple Reasons.
1. NO LTE Iphone (yet). ATT HSPDA+ is faster than Verizon and military gets better discount with ATT. Also ability to purchase a unlocked Iphone 4S for when I visit all those hot and wonderful Sandy locations.
2. In Hawaii only Verizon as a LTE network witch covers almost 90 percent of the island of Oahu.
3. Almost all of the places I travel back to on the mainland for Training and Meetings have Verizon LTE.

I am getting 17-25mbs LTE on the Verizon IPAD verus 1-2.5 HSPDA+ on my ATT iphone.

Lastly the ability to use a ATT 3G HSPDA+ connection with a ATT Sim on the verizon IPAD.

Same reasons as most, plus I really can't stand AT&T customer service, or complete lack thereof. Faster, more reliable Verizon LTE network in SoCal and didn't want all my eggs in one basket. Once the lTE iPhone comes out, I will consider any other carrier except AT&T since they are anti-consumer.

1. Verizon has much better LTE coverage. I travel a lot, so having better LTE coverage is key
2. Ability to use AT&T sim on it if needed
3. Free hotspot
4. AT&T coverage sucks here in L.A.
5. Planning to move to Verizon when the new iPhone comes out this year
6. I can tether my iPhone 4 to my Verizon iPad LTE
7. I simply don't want to give anymore of my money to AT&T. :D

I went with Verizon for my new iPad because of the LTE coverage in my city. And, the hot spot feature might come in handy.

It does not have a name on it. I found it on eBay for $5. I looks like the same one you can order from Amazon. The microsim adapters that came with the cutter sucked. I ordered the AFC Trident Micro SIM Card Adapter for Apple iPad and iPhone 4 from amazon, very cheap about $1 to $2 each. I ordered 3 of month just to have.

I have no issues changing the SIM between my iPad and MiFi. I keep it in my iPad and when I need my MiFi I pop it out and place it into the adapter then place in my MiFi.

The personal hotspot feature on the iPad does not work great so when I need my laptop I use the MiFi.
