Actually in that form factor the gold is devalued significantly. Plus there's not much gold content to begin with. Not worth it.

Thanks. I thought I remember (it's been a while) in the video that it was solid gold...Just did some research...a Presidential Rolex has $900 worth of Gold..yikes!

I have 3 Movados that will go in the jewelry box and be replaced with my stainless Apple watch as a daily wear. I do have a very high end Movado that I will still wear when getting fancied up.

It's not so much what they start with, but rather what's left after Apples precise machining processes are completed. Having watched the various videos very closely, the ending "wall thickness" is such that theirs just not much Gold remaining.

Conversely as a Rolex collector of over two decades, their cases are very thick and heavy. As you've noted, they contain a lot of gold.

I was gifted a Movado a few years ago, but hardly ever wore it. Too impractical for me, without having any numbers, etc. (It was one of their typical ones, with no info at all, just the one dot.)

Im a college student that wore loads of watches, from Weekenders from timex to mid range ones (if you call them that) Kenneth cole, Skagen, Daniel Wellington. however, ever since I bought the Pebble, I stop wearing the non smart watches.

Reason being, I can't live with out the simple notifications on my wrist. there are times where I do wear my other watches, because the fact that a black Pebble watch isn't that dressy.

However, with an Watch, I think my other watches are going to find their final resting place in a watch case...

I also have a movado that the apple watch will be replacing when it arrives. Makes me very sad. I love the simple beauty of a movado.

I'm paying homage in a way by using the Simple watch face. I've turned off all the markings, etc. Too bad the sun at noon is copyrighted.
