I just talked to Best Buy. They lied when they said they were shipping by 3/29. According to the rep I spoke to, they sent all of their inventory to stores and have none for the people who ordered online. She said it was an error on their part and they should have held stock back to fulfill orders, but there is nothing they can do. They have NO ETA on when they’ll get more stock from Apple. They said it’ll probably be weeks.

Never ordering from Best Buy ever again.

Best Buy? More like Worst Buy.

Sorry to hear that. I ordered from Best But online and received it Tues afternoon. Perhaps it’s just that location?

My post is about orders being shipped. As I said, they sent their entire inventory to the stores. They didn’t keep any to fullfil orders being shipped, and some of us weren’t lucky enough to have pick up available at our local store when we ordered. I’m sorry my post wasn’t clear.

They have almost ever config at your local Apple store. Your Mini 5 awaits!

Unfortunately I don’t have another $540 sitting around to do so just yet. I’ll have to wait until Best Buy refunds my money.

I’m trying to hold out for a sale but it’s tough. I know I want cellular. It’s actually less expensive for me to have a base Verizon plan with two phones, a jetpack mifi hotspot, and a cellular trail camera, plus two iPads on AT&T unlimited than it is for me to go with Verizon unlimited. AT&T has better service at our camp, which is where the cellular iPad(s) get the most use, but Verizon has better service and pricing where I live.

The choice is 64G or 256G. I’m 99.9% sure that 64G will be more than adequate for a Mini. My Mini 4 has 12G in use. My iPP 9.7 has 40G in use and my iPP 10.5 has 50G in use. Both of those have a bunch of crafting videos on them that I would not be likely to put on a Mini. My iPP 11, which is what I’ve used most frequently since launch day, has 28G on it. There’s that little nag in the back of my mind about going for the larger storage, but I probably don’t need it and that model is $150 more.

Decisions, decisions.

I ordered ours from Best Buy to be shipped, and it's out for delivery today. Sorry to hear that happened to you, though.

So, you talked to one employee, and that becomes fact for everyone else who ordered through Best Buy online? These are low-paid retail employees.....if you called 3 more times you’d get 3 different answers, never mind the fact that people in THIS thread have received and/or are getting them delivered from Best Buy by today, which proves your info to be wrong.

So that's how I got mine on Wednesday. All of the stores in my area had them for order online and pickup in store. Inventory was single-digit units per type per store and there was a decent amount of time to pick them up each day. I think that they had them as early as Tuesday.

Check out Best Buy’s Twitter, I’m not the only one who was lied to and told they’d be getting their iPad today, and I fail to understand why you are berating me. I only shared what was told to me by the CS rep I talked to on the phone. Why are you so angry at me?

You should get super angry about a mistake done by (like a poster said) a "low-paid retail employee" I used to work at Best Buy and you know why we made mistakes (not too often, but it happened)
1.) We ARE human.
2.) Besides Apple we were the biggest reseller of Apple Products but Apple rarely ever let us know when we were to get a shipment of theirs so we had to guestimate as best we could when people order an item. Add the fact that we had thousands of orders to create and ship everyday and even when we got that person what they wanted, we often got slammed and yelled at for it taking too long, being too expensive, or they just were "God's perfect little *entitled snickerdoodles" and we failed at being perfect.
Your situation is easy to solve, make sure your order is cancelled and your money returned to you, then go to Apple or Best Buy in store and buy your iPad then. Or be one of those people that made BBY employees ecstatic by being one of those: "I'm never shopping here again" customers. lol

I've worked in retail for about 10 years... I'm happy I'm out now, as I don't miss being verbally destroyed.
Also guess what, Best Buy have messed up my orders dozens of times (last iPad order was messed up 5 times, and while I was not happy... I didn't freak out cause it wasn't the end of the world.)

Kallum.

I'm waiting for my refund. I was very polite to the rep, I know it is not their fault. I used to work CS/tech support for another company, so I'd never be THAT customer.

Unfortunately my local store is the only one around that has no stock. The closest one to me with stock is in New Jersey. I'm just going to order from Apple when I get my refund.

I'm going to Best Buy tomorrow. They have the 256 WiFi Cellular for 200 dollars off. Verizon is 150 off and the Apple store is full price.

Why would anyone buy it from Apple?

Verizon is $250 off. When you add to your cart it takes another $100 off.

How do you get $200 off on the cellular model from Best Buy? Is that if you activate with a particular carrier?

You have to activate through Verizon and sign a 2 year contract.

Thanks. That’s not going to happen :). My main use for cellular is at our camp, where Verizon signal is poor and AT&T is better. It’s cheaper for me to run two iPads on $29.99/month AT&T unlimited plans (which I can cancel at any time) than to put iPads on my Verizon plan and switch from 2G to unlimited. I wish T-Mo worked at the camp. The $10/5G/5 month plans would be perfect for my use.

Great deal if you want it on an existing unlimited Verizon plan, though.
