I don't see this type of thread in the forums, so I figured why not start one myself. If you ran Apple, what would you do? I'm talking simple stuff, not "make an iCar." or anything silly. Something realistic, something that Apple would be willing to actually do.
If I ran Apple, this is what I would do...
Create 2 types of Apple TV...
One which is a fully fledged TV. It's HD, comes in no more than 3 sizes, and does some sort of revolutionizing of the way we receive our televised broadcasts.
Then there would be the the box that hooks up to any TV.
And the new Apple TV would be the newest contender run real iOS. That means an App Store, and that means games. And when I say games, I mean party games. games where anyone can take out their iPod touch, iPhone, or iPad, and use it as a controller to play the games. Now some of you may have seen the video of Real Racing 2 first iOS game with 4-person split big screen action via AirPlay. And if not, I'll post the link. The only difference is that the game originates on the ATV, not any iOS device.
Basically, Apple will be entering the console gaming market, without ever coming out with a console. Apple TV is a perfect device to do this.
And I think this feature would really push a lot of ATV's out the door at the stores. the 2nd Gen Apple TV would be able to do this too, except it can only do games like Real Racing 2 that need the game to originate on a device with an A5 processor.

    Other than that,
I would come out with a Retina Display iPad.
I would split off the iPod Nano, to having one as a watch, calling it iWatch, and redesigning it to look a bit more like this...

running something close to iOS, but not quite. It has a camera, multitouch, records video, etc.

But that's about all I got as of right now. If anyone else wanted to jump in about how you would run :apple: , please post it here.

If I ran Apple . . . I'd ask Tim Cook or Scott Forstall to do it instead.

Apple seems to know what's best without needing everyone and their dog's opinion about what to do (most of which are wrong, and some of which are downright bat-**** insane.) In fact, they do their best work when they ignore that stuff completely.

What would I do? I'd shut it down and give the money back to the shareholders. ;)

Probably not a bad policy now that AAPL is peaking.

If I ran apple, I would be known as the dude who brought a 350billion dollar company to bankruptcy in one fiscal year due to my not knowing anything

I'd make a 4.3" iPhone, bring back 30" matte cinema displays, and clean up iTunes on Windows, and from there on out listen to Tim Cook about what to do next.

Lol, to be honest that would probably be most of us. Maybe not bankruptcy but certainly a big drop in profit.

Id rather be in the think tank at apple than run it, if Tim is anything like Steve he will listen to others input. I recall back to an article where the person said if you met Steve in the elevator and pitched him an idea he would either say that is stupid or say great idea and see what he can do with it. Regardless yu need exp to run any company.

if i ran Apple i would actually not change a lot to the present line of products , but i would put some of those 350billion into Quality control in the factory i guess 100 billion should improve things rapidly no more multiple returns because of quality mishaps as thats a disgrace and everybody who receives a faulty product despite that ,gets his money back and a top end Mac Pro fully kitted out with all options with 2 cinema displays for free

but i would add some new products too

I would add a Desktop Mac half the size of the MacPro , basically a headless 27" iMac with place for at least 3 HDD's and 3 PCIe slots priced between the mini and the 27" iMac (losing the display should make it possible to stay below the iMac price ) called the Cube
    [IMG]

i would add a entry level Mac priced below the mini , based on the AMD AMD E-350 in smaller case without optical drive like the ZOTAC NANO , so a Mac NANO
    [IMG]

a laptop/ultraportable like the MSI wind U270 based on the AMD APU e450 12"
but in a white polycarbonate shell priced then between the Mac Nano and the Mini , so a MacBook NANO
    [IMG]

and a AIO system based on the same platform AMD e450 with 18.5 ich screen place between the mini and the 21.5" iMac , a iMac NANO
    [IMG]

and i would create a Steve Jobs Limited Edition of the iMac G3 , but with modern internals like lcd display 15 inch , resolution of 1600x1200 , and based on the IBM POWER 7 platform ,16gb ram 2 TB HDD , AMD Radeon HD 6870
only 2011 will be made ,and the money goes towards a Steve Jobs cancer research trust and for every $ from you $10 from apple go in the trust and you will get invited to cupertino on cost of Apple inc to pick it up

I'd build more stores outside the US. I'd also take a look at international pricing. Apple has huge potential in the non US market, China especially. Theres over a billion people in China, if they can crack that market, they're set.

there is a flaw at present day only very very few in China could even afford a Mini even if they safe up , and not only in China , India , Africa, South America too , my ideas of getting some cheaper Mac's in the product lineup could change that , the people there in those countries would be happy to even get a Mac capable of the basics, my lineup is capable of the basics and 1080p too , they dont need a i5 inside and most in europe and north america would not need one too

A boy in China sold one of his kidneys on the organ black market to get enough money to buy an iPhone 4.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_3 like Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8J2 Safari/6533.18.5)

Carol Bartz thought herself a "leader" as well. So did those clowns at Psystar. Leo Apotheker probably thought the same. Ditto for Jon Rubinstein at Palm.

In short, I don't presume to advise Michael Phelps on how to swim for a gold.

Apple will never create a 2-tiered Apple TV where one set of customers get 1080p and the others get 720p/480p. That goes against the Jobs ethos. Errr wait, maybe now Apple will be free to do that!@

its actually a good idea to offer high performance computers for everybody , but today most people just dont need the high performance any more.
Even netbooks and nettops can play 1080p , and quiet a few of them can play most games , ok at reduced settings . but the majority of computer users just surf the web and do some emaling listening music and occasionally watch a movie online . the real Gamers will anyway get a windows based gaming rig to push the fps in regions that not even a iMac i7 can reach
The only problem is if you want OSX and the little :apple: on the device you need to buy hardware thats total overkill for the majority of users needs , i mean you can even ripp a dvd with a netbook (if you plug in a dvd drive in one of its usb ports ) sure needs more time , but how many really sit in front of the computer with a stopwatch ?

    1) Be CEO
    2) Sell off all of my Apple Stock
    3) Liquidate Apple
    4) Escape to Switzerland (Hey, if Polanski can get away, why can't I?)

The second you get appointed to CEO Apple's stock will drop to rock bottom, so scratch that plan.

If only Apple were this smart. I would be shoving people out of my way to buy this Mac.
