I've often thought about it.... and realize my tastes are rather boring because I'm not sure WTF I would do if I won the lottery :p I suppose the basics:

~pay off my small credit card debt and my car loan
~pay off my mother's mortgage
~Buy a house w/ a YARD - I love my townhouse but my kids need a yard to run around in
~Buy homes for my two fairly useless brothers so that I can feel assured that they always have a place to rest their head at night
~Help various friends and family members where I can :)

1. Pay all taxes on the winnings which will greatly reduce the overall amount received.

2. Put rest into savings type vehicles (instruments).

3. With interest earned, enjoy life. :)

What would I purchase with the interest earned? Difficult to say. Depends on the value of the Lottery. Possibly a mosquito helicopter.

Also would help out family and friends.

I'd buy a new Kenworth T-660 day cab with a LONG frame and all the creature comforts, including the smoothest suspensions front and rear and on-board scales. Then I would drop it off at ARI legacy Sleepers and have them put on a real nice sleeper with all the options including a shower and queen size bed.

Then I'd buy a 48' flatbed trailer with spread axles and all the stuff needed to secure my loads.

All that would cost about $300k. The rest of the money would go into normal investment vehicles. I would just live off my trucking income and let the rest of the money do it's thing.

First thing would probably be pay my car insurance since that's the biggest thing I have to pay off right now (w00t being 18 rox.)

My first Apple purchase would be a 24'' iMac.... Or I guess I could go for the Mac Pro and 30'' Cinema Display... :D

when i won the lottery last year the first thing i did was pay off my student loans and buy my house..

And then my alarm clock went off.... this damn reoccurring dream :p

Invest 3/4s of it into stocks and bonds.

Improve my wardrobe and build a sweet library for where ever I'm living.

Give money to my parents.
Give money to my brother.
Give money to the Humane Society.

Help with community projects in Africa for as long as I want.

Later, become a research assistant for a researcher who works with animals and other life in the ocean. You can already "buy" such an opportunity. It's expensive, but the money goes towards their research (funding is hard to get sometimes), and you get to help out for 2 weeks. I'd simply give them $250k and ask them to keep me on the project for as long as I want to. I'd pretty much be funding their project, and it's not like I'd be useless to them. I have a PhD in an unrelated field, but I've taken lots of biology and chemistry, and so it's a matter of catching up educationally. No big deal.

Oh, and hookers. Don't forget the hookers.

Pay for all the schooling I want to do - continue through a PhD and not have to worry about loans, housing, etc.
Build a nice new house where I'm living now (about 4000 sq ft, pool, the works)
Tuscan farmhouse to redo on a few acres.
Ferrari 599 GTB
2 Ferrari F430 Spider's (one for each house :p)
Mercedes Benz S65 AMG
Redo my whole closet (add a few Brioni suits, Hermes ties, some nice bespoke Edward Green shoes, a few new Lacoste polos, some Earnest Sewn jeans, a couple D&G shirts, a few new exotic belts, etc)
New golf clubs and a membership at one of the local clubs
Pay to take all of my friends and family to my new Italian house for a few weeks
Get a financial planner and broker to help me manage the remainder

Of course this assuming its one of the massive jackpots, otherwise this would change pretty significantly. Probably more like a new house, a used 3 series BMW, some new clothes, and a few week traveling, still nice, but not nearly as extravagant since I'd intend to supplement a job with the interest income. If the jackpot were big enough I'd just purchase all the crap above and then live off the interest on the remaining $50 million or so.

Pay off the house we live in right now, buy me a maxed out Mac Pro, with dual 24" monitors (I don't want 30!). Buy a desk that can fit that. Buy a Macbook Pro maxed out for my dad, but a Macbook Pro maxed out for my brother, but a Macbook Pro maxed out for my mom.
Get me a Macbook Pro maxed out.
Get a couple of 60" T.V's around the house.
Buy furniture for the whole house
Buy all the clothes I ever wanted
Buy all the shoes I ever wanted ( A Lot)
Buy all the stuff my parents wanted/want.

Then put it into a bank and watch it go

If I won an unbelievable about of money (like the $300M Illinois Jackpot), I'd automatically give half to my top 5 favorite charities. I'd then take the remaining 50% and pay off all of my families debt. Then I'd buy me, my mom, dad, and two sisters a nice condo wherever they wanted. Buy everyone a new car and then use the rest to live off of. :)

I'd pay off my debts, and take care of my parent's debts and then some (For all the trouble i've caused in my childhood, its the absolute least I could do.) I'd invest in a nice house, and put the rest aside for when I need it most. I would keep my job and my car and attempt to lead a normal life because money just simply isn't that important to me.
