Thank you for responding.FYI, arn is aware of the issue and has asked the ad network to look into it.
Looks like safari, heard someone say they also had the drainage issue on taptalk as well.
Not going anywhere near taptalk, heard some users on here say it has security issues and App Store reviews aren't that great.I use Tapatalk - no issues at all.
Request, any chance they could cut down on these moving/video adverts? can't be good for battery life.
Contributors (like we are) don't have the ads or trackers. How can a browser tab cause a battery drain? I have well over 25 tabs open for MacRumors! 😵😵
I use several ad blockers and no problem on my iPad M1 12.9. Been on this site for over an hour and on the iPad most of the day and I’m at 90%.Problem is, IF it is the ads then all this site can do is blacklist the offending ads out as they are discovered - and from experience it's an onerous task discovering and reporting them to the advertising agent. The last thing an advertiser wants to do is take the blame for draining battery, let's not forget that there may be other factors at play - it's too easy to demonise the advertising network.
That said, I have noticed some quirks with ads of differing sizes popping up in ad spaces they may not belong in - this makes content appear to bounce around so it does feel that ads are being misplaced even if the ads may be absolutely fine.
On the other hand, an option clearly presents itself with paying to remove the ads if people wish to improve their experience and contribute to the running of a site that isn't free to host.
Well, if the ads becoming annoying enough a percentage of people will go after an ad blocker - or pay to remove them.
Perhaps one of the increasing number of people who appear to have paid to remove the ads could pipe up with a few words on what the experience is like without the ads?
Get the Mozilla Firefox focus app, no more terrible battery life 😎😃We need to get a MacRumors Moderator to look at this thread.

Taptalk reviews aren’t that great, rather stick with a content blocker and use safari, working a treat, no battery drain or heat issues anymore. 👌👌👌Tapatalk user here, and the app has been intermittently buggy as well. Random freezes when browsing Macrumours, delayed notifications and I can’t really say if battery life is any better or worse over the browser.
Yep 😊 it should be enabled in the Mozilla app as well, double check in settings if safari is enabled, then you’re good to go.So I enabled it… now I can continue to use safari as my main web browser correct?
Outstanding! Thanks for all your help again. I appreciate your knowledge. Thank you for sharing!!!Yep 😊 it should be enabled in the Mozilla app as well, double check in settings if safari is enabled, then you’re good to go.
Working well for a few of us, all of my websites are working, takes 2 seconds to setup. Is it better than AdGuard?

So it’s not me, safari autocorrect has taken a turn for the worse these days. 🤦♂️Thanks.
I am using lockdown to block trackers in Tapatalk, and I still prefer the UI in Tapatalk. Never liked browsing Macrumours in safari. Many forums seem to have typing problems in safari where autocorrect doesn’t detect correctly. For example, starting a new sentence doesn’t auto-capitalise the first letter.
I wish mobile safari would enable notifications though.
What about for mac? anything easy like Mozilla Firefox focus on iOS setup wise?Wait, so have some of you been using Safari without content/ad blockers installed? Do you not have any conent/ad blockers on your computers either?????
Wipr works a treat on both iOS & macOS.
