All these posts and not one right answer. They'll leave an InfoNotice on your door saying they made a delivery attempt. Call the UPS 800# and the automated system will ask for the InfoNotice number. Ask to get connected to a customer service rep. Tell them you'd like them to hold it at the hub and you'll pick it up that night. They'll then take your phone number and call the local hub. The local hub usually calls back within the hour and they'll let you know when the driver will be back so you can go pick it up. Make sure you have photo id. They WILL NOT attempt to redeliver unless the package is marked especially for Saturday delivery. Otherwise it'll be Monday until the next delivery attempt is made.

Sing up for MY UPS on their website and it will then give you the option of having the driver leave the package without signature.

No it won't. That's for sending packages. Not receiving it. They WILL NOT leave the package without the signature or the official pre sign form if your ordered from Apple.com. The sender requires the signature.

I ordered mine through AT&T who is shipping via FedEx. My tracking page has a free option to have FedEx hold the package at a local FedEx office that I can pick up anytime I want. I'm not taking advantage of it, but it's a nice feature to have.

EDIT: Nevermind.

This is for after the first delivery attempt is made.

Yes, they will. I signed up for My Choice, and it gave me the option of authorizing release without a signature:

Well good luck on that. These are Apple products and Apple has strict carrier agreements about leaving their packages without a presign form or a direct signature. So let me know how it turns out (no, seriously, I'm curious about this option)

It's always worked for me before when a signature was required, but I've never ordered from Apple before, so I guess I'll just have to wait and see. A cup of coffee will still cost me 99 cents if I don't get my phone until Monday.

Not all UPS guys obey their regulations, I suppose. Just depends; everyone's story differs.

If you know you're not going to be home I'd consider the pre-signature option. Just leave it on your door or mailbox so the worker will see it. My situation is bitter sweet. I have to get up for work @ 6am, but I get out at 12pm (I'm just a part-time college dude) so I'll be home waiting for my delivery! :D:apple:

If you work during the day on Friday and are not home for the delivery, will you have to wait until Saturday to get your phone?

What are the other options?

I work for ups, check your tracking number, if it's close it will tell you and if you get to the facility by 9pm you may be able to find someone to get it for you. (Depending on how big the hub is).

Otherwise, you won't get it saturday unless it's a Next Day Saturday, or 2nd Day Saturday shipment.
