I also noticed that it seems to still have the SDXC slot... if so, I wonder if those JetDrive cards can be still be used?

I know there's going to be super slow, but for more of a "storage/data" drive, might be a good solution to get some more space!

Just get a Short SD to MicroSd adaptor, i had one in my air.

The resolution thing is most likely a software issue, since TF2 was released well before larger resolutions became popular.

No, it's because 2560x1600 is that doubled. In essence, all of Mac OS X's assets are 2x.

In games, I'm almost sure that 800p res saves you, since I doubt gaming at 1600p is possible with 6100.

It's completely possible... Well you didn't specify which game something solitaire would run fine I'm sure ;)

I just exchanged a rMBP 15" for the 2015 rMBP 13" due to the 15" being too big for my daily usage. Compared to the 15", this is a lot lighter and portable, and the new trackpad seems nice, I was able to try it out at the apple store playing a quicktime video and it works as advertised. Overall I think I made the right choice by exchanging and getting this macbook.

I'm doing the exact same thing at BestBuy on Sunday (tried to today)

I went to an apple store and ran into no trouble making the exchange, I wonder why Best Buy is holding onto them until Sunday. Honestly this macbook seems a lot more portable, lighter and I'm in love with the battery life, been on it for a couple of hour setting it up, downloading apps and still have approximately 9 hours and 32 minutes left of battery... just amazing.

I got mine on Wed afternoon

What i like

Force touch pad is pretty cool, less stiff and loud than the previous trackpad by default, but you can change the stiffness in software which is cool.

touch pad is just like the blackberry touchscreen phones, the pad doesn't physically click, but if feels exactly like a click.

SSD is much faster, 1.3GB/s read and write. No noticeable difference in speed though.

What i'm not happy about

I tried getting support for it and the apple website gave me errors

Bootcamp is broken as of right now

Occasionally the screen will fall asleep and become unresponsive for 30+ seconds

I find the default scaling resolution makes everything too big and I prefer a smaller UI, but making the screen items smaller still makes the UI lag noticeably

Does anyone know how much of an improvement the Intel Iris 6100 is of an improvement compared to the 2014 rMBP?

Cinebench R15 OpenGL Test
2014 = 24.7 FPS (Iris 5100)
2015 = 28.9 FPS (Iris 6100)

GTXBench OpenGL T-Rex 1080p Off-Screen
2014 = 88.3 FPS
2015 = 92.8 FPS

LuxMark 2 OpenCL Sala Scene
2014 = 540 KSamples/Sec
2015 = 287 KSamples/Sec

GPUTest FurMark at 1280x720 Windowed no AA
2014 = 12 FPS
2015 = 12 FPS

I think people get too caught up with specs that they will never need. If you're a professional who's doing hardcore video editing or the need of quad core then the 15 is a default option. Beyond needing that kind of power heck I bet most won't be able to tell the difference between the MacBook (Apr 10th) vs a 2015 13 rMBP.

My best bud rocks a 2012 base model 11" 64GB :eek: and does hardcore OS X and iOS development on it (I never understood how he manages) and would have it no other way. No external monitor and at our last gig we both had maxed out 27" late 2013 iMac's. Still loves his 11"

Really?
My late 2013 (haswell) rMBP-13 is running in 1440x900 scaled mode with no lag whatsoever. Do all apps lag?

Just got mine yesterday as well 2.7/8/256 and I find it a bit laggy......

Resizing windows that are open isnt as smooth as I remember on my iMac. Maybe its just me but others can chime in.........

If yours is lagging - Are you restoring from a previous Mac via Time Machine backup?? Possibly bringing issues with it?

I always start a new computer fresh as a new Mac. With Keychain, contacts, notes, tasks, calendars, etc all restored via iCloud - all you have to reload is music, docs, downloads, programs, and pictures.

NO LAG HERE- and quite happy with my new 2.9/8/512 Pro !

yeah I did restore from my previous iMac...... I will try a fresh install

Question: I have a ton of music but opted for the 256gb, how can I use my Airport Time Capsule to store the music and access it via iTunes?

I think I can create a folder on the Time Capsule and share it over the internet? Am I doing this right?

Same rMBP i bought yesterday. Are you using the standard resolution or are you using a scaled resolution?

i tried using the 1440x900 resolution but i find everything too small, i felt eye fatigue, so i went back to default resolution.

So I bought a refurb 2013 rMBP a few weeks ago...just returned it and got the 2015 for only 200 bucks more. Definitely was the right choice. Either way I'm happy because I replaced an old air...but this thing is awesome.

What I like:

trackpad is sweet. You can set how sensitive the "click" is. I loved the old trackpads, but always set "tap to click" because it required a lot of pressure to get the button down. Now you can customize how hard you need to press to feel a click.

The 6100 graphics are noticeably smoother in scrolling/games than the 2013 rMBP. They are VERY noticeable over my old air that had hd3000....

Battery life is amazing.

What I don't like:

Bootcamp doesn't work yet...that sucks. I now have to wait until apple updates their drivers so I can make a windows partition. This is a first world problem that will likely be resolved soon.

GO WITH THE 2015!

I'm using the standard resolution as my eyesight for reading is not 20/20 anymore..

When I had a 128GB unit (up until 2 weeks ago)- I bought a 128GB Micro SD card and this holder:http://minidrive.bynifty.com

I have 64GB of music myself. Then you just move the iTunes location to the SD card. If you have more GB than that- you will have to store on an external knowing that you need to be plugged in to access the files..

What is wrong with bootcamp?

Hey - could you please tell me what games you're running with the HD6100 and how they perform? Thanks :)

I haven't actually broken the shrinkwrap on mine yet (at work) but I played with the demo mid-level 2.7/8/256 extensively at the Apple Store before taking one home last night.

I particularly checked for UI lag, because of the post higher up here. I wanted to make sure I had the option to reasonably sit in 1440x900 scaling since I'm coming off a MBA with that screen resolution.

I can say I might have seen the -slightest- bit more stutter doing full screen animations in 1440x900/1680x1050 modes, but it was so subtle I'm not even sure. It definitely wasn't enough to turn me off of the screen clarity in general.

I did try minimizing, maximizing, scrolling CNN.com, going in and out of Mission Control, space switching, live Youtube videos playing while doing all of this, etc., and it was pretty solid at any scale.

There were a couple of instances where think I saw an initial one-frame drop right after gesture then it was totally smooth, but honestly I'm pretty sure I saw that here and there at best-fit too. In any case it wasn't at all egregious.

I'm comfortable saying that at least on a fresh install, it should behave pretty well. It was good enough for me to buy one on the spot.

Will also say that I was pleasantly surprised at the clarity of the scaling modes. They really do still look pixel perfect, unless there's artifacting under some situation I haven't hit yet. I might actually be OK staying at 1280x800 real estate (my code editors had plenty of horizontal space when I auditioned them) but if not it was perfectly clear at the higher real estates too.

Oh, and the touchpad was brilliant. I expected something much more fake, but that totally felt like it was depressing when I clicked it. I had to put fingers from both hands on it to verify that it wasn't. The force click portion was also significantly more controllable than I'd feared it would be.

What is wrong with bootcamp?

It's fixed now. The driver package wouldn't download because it wasn't added to the repository yet.

It's animations that lag, dropped frames. Doesn't look pretty.

I had the 2013 rMBP 13 for a couple months too, it's the same problem as this one.
