Bravo Apple. Good job

I still wish they would just have one iPhone, though. Why spread your team out? Have ‘em all focus on ONE iPhone to make it awesome.

Man I miss the ol’ new iPhone is one price, and last year’s is $100 less.

Hit all price points, blah blah blah, I know. I still miss simplicity though.

Can't help but think of when Jobs came back to Apple and immediately slashed their confusing product lines.

Apple is starting to go down that road again.

Extra room, you say? Mayhaps we get our beloved headphone jack back? They've proved that they're...courageous...now let's go back to normal where things that you'd ordinarily use with headphones can be used with headphones that don't cost $130 to start.
It's not 'extra room' - they just didn't come up with two different interior layouts for the iPhones with and without SIM trays.

If they can ship eSIM only next year, that will be filled with battery or some other components

Apple checks for changed parts and disables functionality not as an anti-repair tactic, but as an anti-theft tactic. Makes parting out stolen phone a less attractive option and reduces the incentive to steal phones for the parts. Apple has processes that certified repair places can follow to bless the new parts and get them working again.

“The teardown also provides a close-up shot of the standard iPhone 14's logic board with components like the A15 Bionic chip and Qualcomm's Snapdragon X65 modem”

So the non-pro 14 has the new X65 modem as well?

Does iFixit repair apple products using genuine parts?
I am in UK and when I went to Apple store in Covent Garden they quoted for my 2nd gen Ipad pro screen replacement 12.9 540 paunds
where I live there are apple authorised service centres , do they use genuine ipad parts or in my case glass screen replacement?
thank you

Repair website iFixit today shared a video teardown of the standard iPhone 14. In a blog post, iFixit CEO Kyle Wiens praised the device's more repairable internal design, calling it the most substantial iPhone redesign since the iPhone X.
No, no, this is clearly not true, because many resident experts here on MacRumors have told us that the design is exactly the same as last year.

So considering iFixit's list of reparability scores, we have:

1) On the one hand, with a score of. 7/10, the iPhone 14 is now the most-repairable current phone (other than the Fairphone, which gets a 10). Trailing it are the Pixels (5-6), Hwawei (4), and Samsungs (2-4).

2) On the other hand, iFixit describes the redesign as revolutionary, yet the increase in repairability, while welcome, seems only incremental based on the score (last year's iPhones scored a 6). But, given how tightly optimized these designs are for performance, I guess it take a substantial redesign to get an incremental improvement in repairability.

Everyone loves Legos, why not get an iPhone kit to put together yourself? There's some enthusiasts in other areas where I've seen a company release a DIY version. Sometimes the price is reduced, may not be by a lot.

Black Corporation has kits for a few of their synthesizers.

Here ya' go.

Bummer that they’ve done nothing with the space freed up by removing the SIM card tray, but I expected as much while international models still have it. The good news is next year will probably be SIM free globally and they’ll take the time to redesign the internals, perhaps larger battery can occupy the empty space.

I am confused how these phones can maintain their waterproof rating if the panels are secured with only two screws, and there is no more adhesive.

The internals look like a work of art. Apple should be proud and show it off much like their silicon architecture.
I like the new design and where Apple is going with the ability to repair the back glass as well as the front screen. I think to the average Joe repairing isn't that exciting.

If the old man, Steve, were still around, this wouldn't happen. However, we would be stuck with 3.5inch.

The repairability of the iPhone 14 kills the argument on whether to choose a new regular 13 vs the regular 14.

For the 100$ difference the iPhone 14>iPhone 13

Cost to repair iphone 13 back glass no applecare? $449

iPhone 14 back glass no apple care? $169

"Why didn't Apple mention this?"
"We convinced Apple to make it more repairable."

I think Apple sees the "aggressive negotiations" slightly differently. They did this because we forced them to, not "convinced" them. If it was up to them, they would have done something else.

They will soon be "gently convinced" to use USB-C as well, and somehow I don't see that as being the major feature of the next products either.
