Exactly.

But then again, the expresions "Apple cult members" and "rabid fanbois" sadly exist for the same reason.

Apple has good products, but as I said in another thread, there is a limit as to how much I am willing to take for such products.

It ends where it stops benefiting me.

Is that concept so difficult to understand? placing us consumers before these greedy corporations?

I see, so it's all about you. Fair enough I guess. Thankfully, most people aren't so selfish.

I have seen cases of selective reading but man, you took it to another level.

Dont worry, poor and defenseless Apple (and other wealthy corporations) will sleep better from now on, knowing that such fearless warrior is protecting them.

Some people do love to argue and yes I said that and I also said US the consumers.

Again, whats your point in defending these greedy corporations?

Why are you wasting your time and mine instead of demanding more for your hard earned money?

Then again, maybe you are as rich and hence money is not an issue, then by all means, gift me a fully loaded Mac Mini with the Pro chip and I will join your team.

I find the best way to demand more for my money is to simply not buy the product if it's not right for me. I find that is a more productive use of my energy than angsty forum posts.

It's great that real expandability is finally coming back to the Mac. Hopefully there will be aftermarket parts so people can upgrade their Macs and keep them working longer. That's far better for the environment than anything else Apple has done

At least 2 year, if ever. And remember the Mac Studio is more expensive so you could infer the Mac Studio owners have deeper pockets (and are able to spend more money) as compared to Mac mini owners.
Maybe but it also means that the Mac Studio is much less common so less people will want to upgrade it

They are a victim of the TikTok-ification of the internet. Not really worth paying them any attention anymore, sadly.

Sometimes I wish I could Love and Laugh a post at the same time, but this one I wish I could Love and Sad.

Replicating the PCB will be too costly because of the surrounding chips. Realistically, the only viable service will be mail-in where customers send in their module and shops do the soldering work for customers. Those BGA315 chips are only available from China, which makes this service even more niche. No other non-Apple device uses that BGA package.
WANTED: People interested in a trip to China. Just have to do a little work while there. Must wear loose fitting clothing, not responsible if you or China decides to extend your stay indefinitely.

I wonder if that was a conscious change from Apple due to pressure from the right to repair crowd? Good news all round, soon as third party upgrades are a thing I’ll be ordering a base M4
More likely a conscious change to make providing various storage options (and repairs) on a low selling model more cost effective. Regardless of the excitement you may read here and other places around the internet, the unit sales of this will peak with people upgrading from old systems and then fall back to the barely 1% of all Mac sales realm.

I’ve come to realize that the anger some folks feel is due to the fact that most of the world has settled on a “give a little, get a little” compromise between corporations and consumers that gets consumers cool new gadgets and yields a profit for corporations that allow them to produce even cooler new gadgets, etc. etc.

There are people that want things that corporations have determined won’t make them enough money to allow them to profitably continue to make things. It’s not a lot of people (if it were a massive number of people, I GUARANTEE that someone would be fulfilling those market needs and making money as a result) but enough for them to realize that it FEELS like many peple feel that way.

I can’t really afford a specced out mini right now, £400 for 1tb of storage is mad but I can easily see myself splurging on £600 and then upgrading later. It’s absolutely a good thing

That is very insightful . That is repeated so often here that it gets to be very tiresome. For example:
1) mini iPhone
2) large iMac
3) 12” MacBook

the chinese hw/accessory manufacturer leaked an upcoming product of theirs: mini-mate
a tb4/usb4 connected storage expansion box with matching optics

I've had good experience with Orico products, but this looks like you HAVE to buy one with storage included? That seems completely different from the way they have sold products in the past selling blank enclosures so you can add your own drives.

Also sad that more ports are not on the box. Preferably at the very minimum an SD Card slot so I will wait for an enclosure that includes one.

their previous data matrix product line - made for the larger mac mini and the mac studio - had a lot more ports. and those also came with pre-configured storage: HDD and SSD. i'd be a lot happier if i could just buy the barebone and add what i think afterwards.

but this one seems to be bus powered, unlike the data matrix ones, which had external power bricks.
