Annoys the crap out of me that the battery for their new iphone and touch are glued and soldiered in.

what's 1-2 screws? poor choice

id like to thank the jackasses that begged for a redesign after 5th generation. The 5th gen was perfect. all it needed was the removal of the camera and more memory.

who the hell needs a video camera on their iPod when most smart phones have a better quality camera.

also, 32 gb. but no, apple wants you to buy the touch which to me is NOT gym / exercise friendly.

when my 5th gen dies out, ill buy another 5th gen and unfortunately pay the outrageous prices they are going for.

Apple is doomed! I want an SD card slot, a full sized HDMI port, am 8 MP camera, a boatload of customisation and bloat ware, a 5 inch screen, and a removable battery. Then I'll consider the new nano
so you want a new MacBook Phone, right?:D

You can add three pages of icons to the new Nano. I'm pretty sure it's a sign of features coming.

And TI calculators are the best. I have one from the 70's/80's that's solar powered and it's still great. I LOVE the graphing calculators and the fact you can see everything as you calculate too.

How is TI supplying parts for the new Nano when they're still producing and selling these:

Now someone tell me why Graphics Calculators have what appears to be a headphone jack - It's a bit smaller than a regular headphone jack, so you can't fit a normal set of headphones in... But what is it for? Listenin' to music on your calculator?

Is that a calculator or a Nokia phone?

Then why not go buy one now, and put it in the top of your closet?

It also seems that those who just want a music player that's light and pocket/armband friendly are still best served by the 5th generation Nano.

To me it looks like this Nano is a compromise between the 5G and 6G; You have the same general form as the 5G, but with a touchscreen instead of a touch-wheel (because Apple has a touchscreen fetish now).

It also looks garish and iBook-like ;)

....the Retina MBP should come with a giant warning label alerting you to the fact that it contains proprietary RAM and SSD that the user can't upgrade. The MBA is one thing, it's a niche product for people with a tech anorexia fetish, but the MBP is a "normal" prosumer laptop that is expected to have traditional, upgradeable storage and memory.

APPLE is banking on people's 'expectations' to be changing with today's break-neck speed of technological advancements. Also, for many people, slim, sleek, light and sexy trump upgradeability.

This sucks... no removable battery

my old, beat-up Touch was recently replaced for a totally refurbished Touch for £55.

I call that a steal. If I wanted to I could sell that on eBay for a lot more than £55 and a lot more than the old one with all it's scuffs and dings.

£55 every couple of years for a new Touch is a bargain.

It won't be called a "nano" it will be called a "Blimpy"

I like fried boloney sandwiches. :D

I like fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches...No wait that was Elvis.

I hated the 5th gen nano. The click wheel felt awful compared to the really solid 3rd and 4th gen. The glossy paint finish looked really chintzy, much prefer a matte finish. The camera was useless. The whole proportions of the thing just looked wrong.

My favourite still is the 3rd gen fattynano, no flipping it about to watch videos or look at photos, no plastic caps, the thing was great.

Problem is for all the people who try and fix stuff using iFixit guides many of them just make a complete mess of it and end up sending the device back to the manufacturer so they can sort it out. This is why most manufacturers are making non-user serviceable devices where you aren't tempted to open the case and start poking around inside yourself. As devices get more and more complex they are bound to get less user serviceable, its a simple fact. Look at cars, 20 years ago anyone could fiddle around with the engine and it was easy to fix things. These days you need thousands of pounds worth of special tools and electronic diagnostic kit to repair or tune car engines. Its the same with computers. 20 years ago you could repair a computer with a soldering iron, these days its easier and cheaper to just completely replace the innards when things go wrong.

See tons of people at my gym with 6th gens, all naked as the day they were built (the nanos, not the people... unfortunately in some cases). My Nanos usually break because I toss them in my bag and throw stuff over them, not because of sweat. I also don't clip them where they are getting soaked, usually near my shoulders or on the side at the bottom of my shirt.

Armbands really get in the way when doing biceps/triceps/pectorals.

Just curious... were you saying "unfortunately some people aren't naked," or "unfortunately some 6th gens are naked"?

iFixit is getting ridiculous, who on earth would try to repair a device this small?

I sometimes find iFixit guides are not all that useful, they teach you how to take things apart, but never give readers hints on how to put things back together.

iFixIt is stuck in the 1980's and believe that solder is bad, nothing should be amalgamated into one component, glue is bad, thin is bad, Apple is bad . . .

They would like us to stop progress so that they can eek out a business fixing things that are superseded by newer technology. This shop should be relegated to the trash heap of history.
