CORRECTION:

IGoogle, repeat IGoogle is being retired not Google Chrome. My apology please.

I don't know anyone that really used iGoogle. I used it a little but I tend to just have my home page set as a blank page.

Ah, I actually use iGoogle. What's the replacement that Google says I should have been using?

So do I. Every day. It's customized to my liking, and it's both simple, and effective.

I get world news, Canadian news, Australian news, NHL and NBA scores, NHL and NBA news stories, as well as entertainment news, business news, and several other widgets.

Losing iGoogle will be really annoying, as there's no replacement.

I think Google is about to release a new "Google Start" web page that essentially better integrates all of Google's services on the portal page. That's why they're phasing out iGoogle, mostly because they now have something much better.

wonder what they will come out with to replace it. i'm sure it will be something tied into their other services. i have a feeling that if you're going to want to use their stuff they will find a way to get you to use all of it. including google+

I like regular Google as my homepage just because it's so simple and is a quick load. I think that's why most people prefer it over iGoogle. It's better than a blank page too because it shows you that your internet is working, gives you quick access to other Google services like Gmail, Calendars, etc., and gives you a fun surprise of what the Google logo will look like that day! (Love today's 4th of July logo!)

I use igoogle all the time.

Is this just guessing or have you actually heard of an upcoming service called "google start"?

Same here. I don't quite get what they are suggesting is the replacement.

Back to http://my.yahoo.com/ for me I guess.

Thank you for posting this. I just used it to import all my igoogle settings and it worked perfectly. Actually like it better than igoogle. I had tons or work in that igoogle page and was afraid I was going to loose.
Thanks to you I ended up better off.. Thanks!!! :)

Such a shame. It was a great place to put together quick, easy views into the bits of news I was interested in, include news sites, weather, a couple world clocks, and stocks and a translate widget.

Just gives me less reason to go to Google...

I suppose I'm in the vast minority however, otherwise they wouldn't be discontinuing it. Bummer, because I assume it's not much of a traffic/CPU load.
