Convention is usually quantity times size. 8x2 is 8 sticks of 2gigs

Yes, it can be considered the same. One caveat, sometimes the manufacturer will test the memory and try to match modules so the performance of the 2 modules in a kit is similar. While the specs of individual modules may be the same, there ARE variances, the testing/matching is done in an attempt to match modules with similar variances for best performance.

Is a 2 year warranty worth it on these for 9 dollars?
I've never heard of RAM failure.

Does it come with the life time warranty, or do you have to buy one separately?

Comes with it. It's part of the item description.
