Don't you just love that British humor...but back to topic...other then her looking good, which I don't really care for, she is very tech savy. But, I think that the Palm Pre will fail since the iPhone will only get better.

This would seem insightful, if it wasn't for that hideously large signature footer! ;) :p

just out of curiosity, does anybody here actually WANT the pre to fail?

If it would jeopardize the future of the iPhone, perhaps :p

I wouldn't be too surprised if it just became "just another smartphone" like the Storm, though. I hear people raving about the Pre all over the internet, but in "real life", I've heard very little chatter about it. Nerds go crazy about the Pre, but do "everyday people"? Or would they go with something they're familiar with, like the iPhone or BlackBerry? We nerds only have so much sway. (My parents didn't even realize Palm was still in business!)

It's 3am, and coherency is at a low, and thus, the above paragraph may quite possibly make absolutely no sense. Don't hold it against me. (I also hope nobody is offended by the term "nerd")

Why?

Do you think if someone launches a phone that competes with the iPhone, Apple will just hold their hands up, surrender and pack it in?

Competition is good, it drives improvement and innovation. I'm hoping the Pre is a success just so it can keep Apple on their toes and continue to make the iPhone a better product.

I hope it does. I plan on rubbing it in everybodies faces. :p

How mature of you

I think you dug a bit too deep into my first sentence. (Would a few more smileys have done the trick?)

You got to admit that she is funny though and was speaking the truth...:)

No I don't have to admit that. I have an aversion to lying without a really good reason. Frankly I found her "humour" tedious and I'm sure most people wouldn't be half as interested in her opinion if she looked more like that Susan Boyle.

Only stupid people.

A couple of phones that compete at the same level as the iPhone will ensure that Apple have to keep pushing to improve their product (not suggesting that isn't happening now, by the way), and it means that everyone who has an iPhone or one of the close competitors like the Pre will end up with a better product. Who wouldn't want to end up with a better phone?

In short

1 - She's not bad looking.

2 - The video makes one laboured point. With the Pre, you currently can not try before you buy.

I understand the Palm want to sell their entire stock. But not allowing people to try before they buy is probably a mistake, and it sends out the wrong signal.

At Palm's CES keynote, they said something like: "We don't do desktops, or big tv's. We do mobile - It's ALL we do."
That being said, they really should have ensured that they had more than enough inventoryyyy, lol, and working try-before-buy models.
I've not seen an actual model yet, but I've seen enough unboxings and reviews now, to say that as good a device as it is, it won't sway me from even a 2.2 firmwared iPhone.
The fanboy in me speaking? Probably.

I wish people wouldn't encourage her to try to be funny.

They should really just tell the truth "You're hot when you don't speak"

+1 for being an apple enthusiast and being hot

-1 for being a moron.
