A Word or several of Caution

I bought one of their cases for my 3GS a while back. The case was beautiful, soft leather although it was the original design where the case did not fully cover the top of the phone.

Over time I was getting this brown, sticky glue appearing on my phone (white 3GS) so I wrote to Ikonic Edge:

"I bought an iPhone 3GS case last year - gorgeous leather &
I love it. However, despite the case externally being in great condition the
inner suede lining has begun to come away from the leather inside the case
down near the bottom corner inside. This leaves a nasty, sticky brown glue
residue on the back of my phone when I take it from the case (made worse as it's a white iPhone).
I've taken a few photos of the case with my phone, which I'm happy to send
to you. The stitching on the outside of the case shows no signs of wear and
tear."

They replied quickly with concern and so I sent them the photos of the case. After that I never heard a word from them, so just put it down to poor customer service. By that time I'd bought an iPhone 4 so decided to get a new case.

Be interested to know if anyone else has had these problems with the inner microfibre lining coming away from the leather?

I will get some pics up of the case at at the weekend for you, I got the Dark Brown which is much darker than what it looks on the website and the pics on the website do not do the case justice as it is much nicer when in the hand.
Regarding not hearing the phone when it rings, the pouch has 12 small holes where the speakers are and whilst in my pocket I havent missed a call yet and still feel it vibrate.
I ahve already had various comnets on how well it is made and how well it loooks and adds that little more to the phone rather than the normal 1000's of cases/pouches that are out there.

I took the plunge and went with the dark brown too. I'd still love to see photos of your case if you've a mind to post them.

RA19, thanks for the words of caution. As manufacturing defects go, sticky glue residue is a nasty one to have. I hope it came off fairly easily. I still have time to cancel my order, but I'm going to take a chance on it since the iPhone 4 case is pretty much a total redesign, and one of the things that kept coming up in the feedback from others has been that the case lasts a long time without problems. Hopefully the problem you experienced is not a widespread issue.

The Ikonic Edge is also the only pouch on the market that not only has the stitching on the inside (unlike the bulkier More, Saddleback, Vaja or Beyza pouches) but also has a microsuede lining, so I don't have to deal with velvet that sheds lint into my vibrate switch and under my volume buttons (Sena, Knomo). So I don't have a good alternative if this case doesn't work out. I'd probably go with Knomo and hope their velvet sheds less than Sena's does. Hopefully Ikonic fixed any glue problems with the 4/4S version of their case. However if I run into any issues I'll certainly post about it.

Had one of these for my 3GS, rocked it for almost two years and still going strong, was using the SENA case for about 3 months prior however the inside started to separate from the outer layer. That's where the Ikonic Edge has the upper hand due to the stitching along the opening to prevent this. Never had a problem with the glue issue like some others in here.

So obviously after pre-ordering the 4S I ordered one of these cases for it. The only problem i had was that the stitching on the inside. i believe they burn the end to fuse the material together, due to the original tightness of the case, it left a little scratch on the side of the antenna band, luckly it rubbed off, so just a precaution for those of you who have ordered one, just run your fingers along the inside of the case where the stitching is to make sure there is nothing sharp before you slide in your phone.

Its been about 2 weeks now and the fit of the case is perfect. It has loosen enough that the phone slides in and out with ease however not too loose that the phone will drop out.

Highly recommended if you are looking for a pouch style case, i have since put mine into retirement as i have just received my Element Case Vapor Pro. Nothing wrong with the case however after 2+ years of using a pouch i decided to try a change.

Just received the Tan version of the pouch Ikonic Slim yesterday. Quality is excellent and the stiching is perfect. The leather is extremely high quality. In just a day I've already gotten about 10 compliments on the case and two other iPhone users wanted to know where I got it so they could get one. The pouch is perfect for what I was looking for. I have 2 credit cards, my ID, and Insurance card in the card pocket and could likely fit 1 or 2 more if I wanted (Or 1 or 2 folded bills). The pouch is very tight at first, and the phone is difficult to get out, but after only a day it has gotten better/easier. I imagine in a day or 2 more it will be perfect and easy to remove. I have no trouble hearing the phone ring with it in the pouch. I've kept the volume a little higher than normal to compensate. Overall I'm extremely pleased with the Ikonic. I've ditched my wallet altogether and I love not having my phone covered up by an ugly case. I will post pics later tonight.

Question to all the users, does it become a pain to take the phone out of the case when you want to use it ?

My Ikonic Edge pouch arrived today. It's beautiful leather that puts the Sena Ultraslim to shame. Just stunning. The lining is soft and protective and doesn't shed at all. Very pleased with the case in those respects.

One problem with the case, and it might make me return it: I'm having the same issue as KH41. The stitching on the inside is fused with something hard, probably burned into place as suggested. Because of this, the case leaves marks all the way down the antenna band that look a bit like brown scratches. They're definitely NOT scratches and they do come off, but it takes a good deal of buffing with a microfiber cloth and a lot of elbow grease. I'm not sure if I could somehow remove the rough material without compromising the case, or if I should just return it.

Auburn Apple - you definitely don't have any marks on your antenna band? If you're all good then it's obviously not a design flaw and I can just exchange mine. If not for this one issue it would be my perfect case.

To answer the question above, removal of the phone from the case couldn't be easier. Just push the soft leather in between the speaker ports to pop up the phone.

Batmac,

What i did was i used a small pair of scissors and cut off the excess, after a day or two when the pouch stretched to the correct size it wont leave marks on the phone bezel, hope that helps.

The problem with these kind of cases is they muffled the sound so much.

I had a Sena leather pouch and I can hardly hear the sound unless I crank it up to max. It had three tiny holes for the speakers but apparently it's not enough.

Just put the phone in upside down, I have had a cheap fake leather pouch for over a year now (it has no holes for sound), and I always just put the phone in upside down, I can hear it perfectly.

I have been looking for a nicer real leather case, but I just can decide which one, I love the look of the Sena Corsa, but I can't decide if I would like the pull tab. And they are all so expensive!

My initial thought was to do just this, but the substance (pretty sure it's a tiny bit of excess glue) is sandwiched at the top of the lining in a way that would make snipping it off impossible. I'm also not certain that the little bit of glue is causing the stains: I get two thin lines which mirror the width of the stitching rather than the area where the glue is. The glue would leave markings in between these lines if it was causing the problem. Did your case stop marking the antenna completely, even if you applied a bit of pressure to the seams?

I think I'll just have to return the case. Hopefully AuburnApple will chime in and give me an idea of whether or not I should try my luck with an exchange, or if I should look for something different. Very irritating, because after a lot of searching I haven't found anything else online that comes close in terms of design and quality of materials.

Bootsie, no need to flip the phone upside down with the Ikonic. The sound holes work perfectly. First thing I tested before I discovered the staining.

I'd stay away from the Sena Corsa. I have a friend who uses one, and the leather is finished with some kind of coating that doesn't feel all that great. Also the pull tab gets in the way when you have the phone out. There's no way to get it back in the case without reinserting the phone, so it just dangles.

Sorry for the delayed reply. My Ikonic was marking the same on my band, but after a week or so it stopped. It doesn't actually scratch the band, but leaves a residue from the glue or something that eventually worked itself out. As far as the fit, the ease of removal has improved steadily since I got the case. Now it is very easy to slip the phone out of the case. Overall I'm extremely pleased with the case once it is broken in. The quality is excellent and gets lots of compliments.

+1 totally agree with that. Try it out for a week, it will be fine.

Anyone else get one? Impressions? Pictures? Thanks...looking to get one and stop using my S4V.

hello, sorry to reopen this topic, I'm very interested into buying this pouch, but I passed through some others in the past (sena ultraslim and more. letiqué) and both had problems in covering the top and the very delicate angles of the iphone 4.

The Sena was leaving them almost out while the more. letiqué had sliding problems resulting in the leak of the phone by itself when flipped down.

Anyone of you had (I hope not) experience in accidentally dropping the phone while in the Ikonic Edge pouch? any damage?

What's happened?

Thanks to everybody! ;):D:)
