A friend just got a MBP. They did an erase and install option for leopard.
Does Leopard upgrade install iLife 08 or is this on a different DVD i need to now have the person install?

Leopard does not include or install any version if iLife. The version of iLife shipped with the machine is on the System Restore DVD that shipped with the machine. Once booted into the OS insert the DVD and double click on the Install Bundled Software app on the DVD. If this does not exist, or does not work you could use Pacifist to install specific applications from the software bundle.

He should have gotten a disk (being Leopard or not) that says Macbook Pro Install Disk or something like that (this could be Tiger or Leopard). Put that into his MBP running leopard, go into like 'Extra Applications' or something along those lines, go in there, copy and paste the iLife programs to the desktop (you could probobly do it from the disk but whatever), then install them.

EDIT: ^^ Exactly what robbieduncan said ^^
