It is absolutely necessary, a major factor. I wouldn't even think of buying it if I can't show other people I'm using an APPLE iPad.

I agree that no one is going to make a buying decision based on whether the logo illuminates.

But the objection that an illuminating Apple logo will make the Ipad user look pretention or obnoxious seems silly. The minute you pull out your iPad some folks will roll their eyes. Hiding the logo isn't going to make those folks feel better about you or the ipad so why care. If the illuminating logo looks cool, why not.

Couldn't answer your poll because a third choice was missing. The "I could care less" choice.

Okay, I registered just to ask this...

Why do you American's say "I could care less" - what does that actually mean?

In Australia we say "I couldn't care less", which to me makes a lot more sense....

Hey, don't lump all of us into this--has nothing to do with being American, everything to do with intelligence.

And I agree with you, incredibly irritating. Some people apparently don't actually think about the words coming out of their mouth.

Alright sorry, back on topic...

I've always said it the "Australian way" and I'm American. I think it's more a matter of people not thinking before speaking. It reminds me of another common misuse of language: People often say this or that "begs the question" with regard to something else. They should be saying "raises the question". "Begging the question" refers to a specific type of logical fallacy (that the premises are implied by the truth of the conclusion).

Its interesting that you try to demean the intelligence of people who use nonsensical expressions by using the equally nonsensical expression "don't lump all of us into this". :p

Okay, well I gotta jet because it's raining cats and dogs out here and I have to meet this filthy rich guy who's paying an arm and a leg to buy my iPad, smart cover and the whole shebang. :D

Not criticizing the use of nonsensical expressions, as you call them, but rather their proper use. And clearly based on other posts, I'm not the only one. But enough threadjacking...

To answer the OP's question, no I'd prefer not to have an illuminated Apple logo as it can only hurt battery life and as I generally have either a case or BOOKback on my iPad, the feature would be wasted.

No illuminated logo.

So far I'm not desperate enough for attention or for whatever displaying an Apple logo gets you.

I don't like visible logos on anything - clothing, electronics, underwear...nothing.

(Actually, I would be happy if there was someone around to see my underwear - logo or not!:(:p

That one made me lough in the morning ...:)

Welcome to MR

Based on your name and question: you did some english teaching in Japan ?

Hey, spot on Christian! I taught at a branch in Nagoya. Back in Australia now, given the demise of Nova. Actually, it was a while ago, but the name stuck - useful for forums etc :)

Maybe I'm a cocky jerk, but I spent $500+ on my iPad...I'd be crazy if I said I didn't show it off haha. I think an illuminated apple logo would be cool. If you don't like it, turn it off. Simple as that :p

I want an illuminated logo. It looks good from the photos, but I'm not sure if it's practical in real life. I like the mirror.

Now, only if it was made of diamond.

'I could care less' is a nicer way of saying it. And Americans say both anyway but- they both mean the same thing.
