Illustrator different on mac/pc?

Hey guys, so I'm having issues on my mac with the pen tool, I cant seem to draw over any object I've already created without it giving me the "-" sign and deleting the points i've already created.. whilst on my pc, I can draw over or if i have the object selected,, then it will give me the option to "-" the point.. curious if theres a way to toggle this on and off?

Try holding the shift key down when the pen tool is over a 'live' point. It should then let you intersect rather than delete. I'm actually using a PC at present so don't know if this will actually work, but I can't see why there'd be a difference.
