Illustrator runs better on mba lion than i7 SL Imac

Why does my cs5 Illustrator run 100% smoother on my Air running Lion than my I7 iMac with 16gbs running snow leopard? Im working in a file thats about 7-800 megabytes. What could be causing this sluggishness on my iMac?

I don't think so. My buddy has a sandy bridge macbook pro and it runs fine. He has the spinning drive to.

I don't believe that but anything can happen.

After issues with 2 iMacs I have got, I hate iMacs. I am posting on one, but this is going to Apple on Monday for the 3rd time.

It's running faster on the Air because it's running a beta build of the OS? Yeah, obvious, huh?
