I just thought ya'll should know. Any suggestions for drinks? I'm not doing any crazy sh*t like 21 shots, but I would like to get a drink at a bar. Maybe a black Russian.....

Congrats! I just turned 21 on Tues, so I know how it feels, but I can't have any alcohol at the moment (doctor's orders) so I can't help you there.

How bout 21 pints? :D

Forget tequila, nasty, nasty stuff. The drunk you get from it isn't even fun. I've tried the stuff twice, and both are probably the worst drunk experiences I had.

Vodka on the other hand, gotta love vodka. So versatile and easy to work with. Vodka rocks!

For something delicious, try out Kahlua, mixed in milk. Mmmmm!

Also, be sure to try some white russian! <-- a favorite cocktail of mine.

Rum is nasty, but if you mix it with the right stuff (coconut [Malibu Rum] or coke) it's tasty.

Gin and tonic is something you gotta try. The opinions on that drink is so varied it's interesting. I like it, while many of my friends detest it. It puzzles me :D

As for beers, there's so many varies of those out there. For everyday, cheap drinks, I tend to go for Rolling Rock. Try it out. For the more tastier stuff, don't hesitate to just try stuff - various kinds of ales, lagers and pales, from various countries, to see what kinds you like. I surprisingly tend to like British beer. Belgium beers are teh rock, but they tend to be a bit expensive. Ale and lagers are strong kinds of beer, so they might take some getting used to if you never or rarely drink beer. But there are some delicious ones out there - I particularly like the chocolate-favored ones, like the Bison Chocolate Stout.

That's all I got for now. Enjoy the alcoholic world, it's a fun one (in moderation, of course... ;) )

And once you've tried various alcoholic drinks and want to try something different... look up on absinthe. I will say no more. :D

vodka - water - lime?

scotch + gingerale

you don't want a rusty nail (scotch + drambuie) - you have to like those to enjoy that one.

just drink lots of beers thats the path to true happiness ... or

JAGERBOMBS!

Actually, if you're willing to pay a bit of a premium, Tequila can be pretty smooth. It comes in different grades (silver, gold and I forget the rest). The really nice stuff tastes just like water. You could skull glasses of it if you wanted (not recommended). I agree though, most brands of Tequila are a bit harsh.

Dammit, you have to do 21 shots on the 21st b-day. Its like a law or something. Do it! ;)

Absolute Vanilla Vodka - you'll be able to have 21 shots of it.

Edit: Oh yeah....Happy Birthday too (the thought of alcohol distracted me)

Oh man, that Absolut Vanilla vodka is awful. Blergh!

Maybe you should get some nice cocktails down you. Classy!

and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Some of my favourites,

Guiness... Thick black Irish stout, full of iron, it's a meal in a glass

Coors... Beautifully crisp and tasty Canadian Lager/Beer

Jim Beam... No nonsense bourbon whisky

Pear Cider... Sooo good, any brand

Oh and congratulations, Happy Birthday...!!!

Rich.

I've often said "there's food in beer, but no beer in food" a good pint of stout in particular can right fill you up. ;)

As a long time stout drinker (and it ain't just the beer that's stout), I've been very disappointed by the Guiness in the US it just doesn't feel as thick as the Guiness of my youth, even when delivered from a tap in an "irish" bar (you can't stand a fork in it). Sam Adams' stouts were better than locally available Guiness, but are generally not available too far our of Boston.

Also, Coors is from Colorado, were you thinking of some other Canadian brew?

Happy Birthday indeed sethypoo! Don't go wild.

Heh heh.....I went to dinner and had one pint of a microbrew called "Sasquatch." 9.3% alcohol content and an incredibly strong taste. I didn't really like it too much, but it gave me quite a buzz. I then had a black Russian, and a vodka and cranberry juice.
