So Apple is discontinuing support for the 17" Macbook Pro come June 30th. I have a 17" that fell to the dreaded GPU issue that they had a policy for for what seems to be ever.

I just went to Apple and they told me they can't repair it no matter what and can't order parts, can't send it out, etc. I asked them what it meant to be supported until June 30th and he told me that refers to software. (?) which makes no sense.

Software on the 2011 will be the exact same as the software on any of the new models. High Sierra is supported on the 2011 later this year. I don't think that's correct.

So what does it mean to have the support removed from the 2011? He told me I'd need to go to a 3rd party repair shop to get it fixed if I wanted it repaired.
