The 24" iMacs have H-IPS panels, which will set you back ~US$600 or more for a stand-alone.

24" Dell Ultrasharps are the same H-IPS panel.

Personally, I'd find a used Quad or 8core Mac Pro from 2006-2008.

That would give you a lot of expandability.

You can drop your 750GB HD in there for starters. DDR2 FB-DIMMs have come down in price a lot too.

Welcome Pc, I'm Andy! ;)
Good to have you here on the Mac side! I realize you said you already have a 24" Monitor however, the complete package that is iMac - is hard to beat. I'd recommend it. If however you have a tight budget, get a Mac Mini! Brilliant little computer and so compact and near silent.

I believe you would be best with a low end iMac, it has the best specifications for your usage and has a good enough graphics card for your gaming. You'll love the Mac!

Wow, so many different opinions (not a bad thing)! :)

Based on feedback, I ordered an iMac 24", 2.93GHz from Amazon for $1721 (including shipping, no tax). I did some research on the benchmarks between the different iMacs and Mac Pros, and this one seemed to be the best one for my money.

I should get it sometime this week. But thanks for everyone's feedback, it helped a lot!

Congrats on your new iMac. While I was one that recommended a mini I can't fault you for getting the 24 iMac. Beautiful machine and I'm sure you will me more then happy.
