I'm just not quite sure I'll need ALL 64gb considering the only storage would be from text messages and pictures/video. I have spotify so I'm wondering if I really need the extra space.

I realized I could delete pictures/video, etc. Is this an efficient way of managing memory? I was so set on the 64gb but then this thought came to mind. How effective do you think this would be? I've read many places the 16Gb just isn't sufficient anymore and I agree, with 7GB left, 10 apps, and no pics/video.

Even though I can delete stuff on the 16, is a 64 still the better choice?

I have a 4s, i have 80+ apps, 1000 photos synced from mac ( i don't know why i don't keep them in plex and free the storage, but hey) 250 photos in camera roll, 224 in streaming photos, 400 in shared streaming and i have 1,2 gb space left. My music is in iTunes match (i love it, and i usually only use it while driving (thanks god 3g is everywhere) so there.. i don't make videos, i imagine full hd videos take A LOT of space.. then again, i have duplicates in streaming photos that i won't have anymore with ios8 so i'll have something like 2gb of space for A LOT of photos for when i travel. I once loved to have ALL my iPhoto collection on my phone, but it got too big and i realised i NEVER re-watch photos taken, like, 3 years ago.16 is enough for some people.

No I wouldn't cry about it?

Seriously they upgraded 32gb to 64gb that's good. I went 128gb it's just $8 more a month than the base model

I understand those were going to purchase the 64 GB or higher anyway is getting a good deal since they would be getting the double the storage, HOWEVER, coming from the a point of view from a person who purchases a 16 GB, they are getting slapped in the face.

Why would they skip 32 GB.

The conversation I had with an Apple employee even commented on the exact issue: why skip 32 GB.

Apple is trying to steer people to spend $100 more or subscribe to icloud drive, a paid subscription.

Yes, I understand it is a business, but come on, Apple is gouge us (16 GB buyers).

The infix year down of the phones show it does not cost apple a lot of to build these phones and memory prices are very cheap yet apple likes to charge a premium and offer no memory slot.

Not only that, it only costs apple $15 more to make an iphone 6 PLUS.

Prices for phones are getting ridiculous and out of hand, especially when you replace them every year or so.

Understand there are a lot of apple fanboys on here, but let face it, no matter what apple does, their fans will always defend them, whether it is positive or negative.

I prefer not to be taken advantage of... But I digress...

32 GB would have been the perfect sweet spot, not too much and not to little, and very manageable...

If you are worried about picture storage I signed up for one drive and got 30 gig free. Coupled with my Dropbox of 6 gigs I've got plenty of space for pics. However I went ahead and got the 64 though.

All my storage is kept on my 5 Terabyte desktop. No need for my phone to has a lot of storage.

16GB on a phone is not enough, unless you back up automatically to cloud or have a microsd slot. Since you can't have a microsd on an iPhone, I suggest you get 64gb.

I've had 16g and 32g iPhones and iPads thinking I would download more videos and apps just b/c I had more storage and every time I never did. For movies, I stream netflix.

If some 10 gb magic app comes out that makes a robot appear to clean for me, then I will get a 128g. Or if the phone is free, why not.

I don't know why more people aren't doing this. Download Microsoft OneDrive app. Sign in with hotmail/live/outlook account. 30GB free to use to backup files, photos, etc.

:apple:

I'm definitely just going to exchange it for the 64. Even though I'm subscribed to Spotify (which takes a huge load off my phone storage), Netflix, etc, I still feel like the best option here is 64.

The thing that really made me realize this is that too often I want to show someone a picture on my phone and realize that it's on my computer. Sure iCloud storage might help with this but I feel like it's not even close to being perfected.

Nope, I am pissed off that I could have paid $100 LESS if apple started the line up at 32 GB.

Ask yourself: why does the line start at 16 and jump to 64, then 128 GB.

Seriously. Several if us could have SAVED $100.

So because Apple decided to offer the 64gb at a better price then before you feel entitled to have the same thing for all model? Apple isn't gouging you if you were planning on buying a 16 gb model you are getting the same price you were expecting.

But.. Just last year you had to pay that same $100 just to upgrade to the 32GB... Now with that $100 you get 64GB..

So..... Everyone who had 32gb last year got a bonus 32gb free this year for the same price. Your brain is broken.

EXACTLY! If you were planning on buying a 16GB anyway.. THEN WHO CARES!

$100 is like 2 tanks of gas or less these days.. if you are going to use this device every day for 2 years.. suck it up and buy the 64GB...

I upgrade every year and I still pay out for the 64gb and then you can sell it towards your next iPhone.. so who cares.

I have a 32 GB currently, the year before that, I had 16 GB.

I found I didn't use 16 GB while using the 32 GB, however, with today's bloat/apps, etc., I feel that 32 GB is the sweet spot.

Anyhow, Seriously, are you DEFENDING Apple with starting with 16 GB and skipping the 32 GB?

I just LOVE apple fanboy mentality!

I'm not saying they should have "skipped" the 32gb... But isn't it for the same reason apple continues to sell their "outdated" iPhone which usually comes out in 8gb or 16gb. They just do that to keep a budget model for those who can't afford a real iPhone :)

Upgrade. It's $100 difference and you'll get most of that back when you to go sell in 2 years - who is going to want a 16GB phone with no expandable storage in 2 years?

But then again, I can't figure out who would want that phone NOW and apparently there are plenty of people who do.

You didn't know you could delete stuff? 16gb is plenty for most people who don't need to whord everything on their phone..

I have always had 16GB devices from day one and never had a space problem.... Right now my iPad has 5GB of free space with 56 apps installed.

I stream music, have HBO plus, SlingBox with 400 live TV channels at my finger tips, Netflix etc.

I don't see the need to store Movies I already watched or Music that I can stream. I still have plenty of room for pictures.

But I guess to each it's own.....

Same dilemma here. I believe I can get by with 16 GB, however, pissed off apple nixed the 32 GB and forcing people to buy the next tier up which costs $100 plus tax more.

In the end, I can't believe I am spending goobs of money on a phone that I am only going to keep for a year or 2 and then replace it again and spend goobs of more money again.

Got to break the cycle....

I'm in the same boat as you...

I'm getting the 16, because I find it a bit ludicrous to spend $300 on a cell phone (unless I was trading). But, at the same time, 16 isn't enough these days and 32 would've been perfect for me. I don't understand the mentality that the 64gb is now a better deal, while you weren't planning on shelling out on that kind of money in the first place.

I'm perfectly happy they increased the memory at the $299 price point. That's awesome.

I think the argument is that they shouldn't start at 16 gb period. The $199 phone should be 32 gb.

I swear some of you will defend Apple to the death. They do crappy things sometimes you know.

This has nothing to do with being able to afford a 16 GB vs 64 GB model.

The core issue is Apple gouging its "loyal" fan base/consumers. Apple starting their line up at 16 GB and nixing the 32 GB. Come on, had any OTHER company did what apple did, you would talk crap about it.

... And for the record, while I have been contemplating getting a 16 GB, I had already preordered a 64 gb which has yet to arrive. I paid full price, so it is not about being able to afford it.

They probably aren't offering a 32gb 6 because they are still selling the 32gb 5S. Once the 5S is out of production the 6 will likely drop 16 and start at 32.

you are the perfect Apple consumer and Apple loves you for it.

This why apple will continue to make money from iSheep.

Exactly. Lots of streaming services it doesn't make sense to need to carry around with you lots of movies and music.
