Don't be afraid. If the service isn't working out for you, by all means, find a carrier that will. :)

It's the internet - the CB radio of the 21st century. Anonymity makes people tough.

anonymity is slowly dying on the internet. privacy is dead. Facebook owns you. Google owns you. Its the perfect surveillance tool. Everyone got served.

and people start bitching about the patriot act lol.

Love my iPhone as an Internet device, biggest POS phone ever and AT&T in the bay area sucks!!!!! People who tell you otherwise need to get their head out of thier ass!!

I do not know where you are, but in the 510 and 925 my service is great!!! Both voice and data!

Today was the last straw. AT&T service is the culprit. After standing outside today with my iPhone 4 in-hand showing me I had 4 bars with 3G service, nothing was working. Google maps wasn't loading, couldn't browse safari, apps weren't refreshing, all this during the time I needed my phone the most. Hate started building up and it just became obvious I need a new phone EVO 4G Here I come.

I'm no longer impressed. I've been with AT&T since day one of the first iPhone. It's been nothing but non-sense. iPhone 3G to iPhone 3Gs, come on what type of scam is that?? I'm done.

Did you try resetting the network settings? I had that problem and that sorted it.

Who cares if your leaving......

Why are all these stupid threads popping up more frequently???

People like having an outlet to share their feelings. Hence the popularity of Facebook, Twitter and other social sites. Macrumors is that outlet for some because of the sense of community.

The beauty of the Forum is that we have the option and choice to click on a thread or not, and to respond or not.

I switched from Sprint, and if you think that you're gonna be happy with the service, think again. Obviously, if you wanna try it out, go ahead. However, Sprint's 3G network is basically slower than EDGE, and their 4G network barely keeps up with ATT's 3G. Unless you're getting the EVO for Verizon, I'd stay with ATT.

But anyway, to each his/her own. I wish you luck! but I have a feeling that you're gonna come back to ATT and the iPhone very soon after you realize just how bad the rest of the competition is.

Unfortunately, this is my experience in the 408 and the 650 in the Bay Area also. Even on major freeways, at major intersections, it drops.
As has been said on this forum many times, it depends upon the location which service provider is better.

You should sell your iP4 to me. I'll take it off of your hands.

1) You've owned an iPhone since it was first released yet it took you till June 2010 to finally register for Macumors?

2) You need to make an 'announcement' specifically for this 'move' - why did it require a public announcement? this isn't twitter and no one cares about every bowl movement you might make.

I pity you. You are obviously only on here because, as always, you got an agenda for or against something.

Sprint's 2bit network will not fix your issue. I refuse to believe that Sprint is any good anywhere since I've yet to see it ever work properly.

I think everyone would love to see the iPhone move to multiple carriers. A little competition would make all of the big carriers improve service, quality, and possibly help in a little price drop with plans/add more to current plans. You are not alone, but I do not think i can make the jump to a non-iphone. Apple has me hooked...

Could be it was not AT&T's fault.

If your phone has connected to a WiFi network but cannot get to the Internet through it, it will behave as you described.

This can be a problem if (for example) you once signed onto a Boingo public hotspot. Days later, you're near another Boingo hotspot, and your phone connects to it but is not authenticated for paid access that day. So: beaucoup bars, but no Internet, because the phone will prioritize WiFi connectivity to save you precious data minutes (and because WiFi is faster).

If you have a WiFi router at home, try disconnecting its WAN cable, the one that goes to your cable or DSL modem. If the behavior is familiar, that might explain your frustrations.

The cure is to go into Settings and have it forget the problematic WiFi network.
