so I finally went back into the mac world.

I get a win xp prof laptop and my mini attached to my printer and external HDs.

I've been trying to setup the mini to share the drives via windows sharing, same with the printer.

I've disabled the option in smb.conf for encrypted passwords, made it no.

I've done the same in windows xp so that it sends clear text passwords.

I've edited the cupsd.conf to allow for hosts on my priv ip range.

when it comes down to it, I keep it getting NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE

I confirmed this with trying to mount my os x shares from within os x with smcbclient.

i take it you already tried just turning on Windows Sharing and Printer Sharing in the Sharing prefs? I never had a problem with it that way - never went near a conf file. And your firewall's set to let it thru?
For more complex shares (like other volumes or folders outside Home) i used Sharepoints

yeah. that was my first step

found out about the program sharepoints yesterday morning.

seems like its an authentication program. I was reading around the apple discussion boards and more than a few people are having similar complaints to what I am experiencing myself.
