The HDR Video is absolutely crazy gorgeous. And, the audio is every bit as good as my HomePods. Absolutely amazing machine. Definitely a bit heavier than the 13" M1 I had, but, this is a serious pro machine! Worth every penny IMHO.

Same sound as intel one maybe worse as highs are not there, also display is same as intel ones with hdr looking exactly the same bight news with slightly better contrast so no it’s not worth every penny, also intel MacBook Pro goes louder than the new one

Same, I got the 16" M1 Pro and it's incredible, everything is perfect. I absolutely love the new design, screen, speed, thermals, etc... Apple really hit a home run with this iteration.

Yeah pro motion is amazing in safari 60hz is so smooth, also the display being the same brightness as the older one is incredible:)

Fully agree, safari is super smooth. On the display, yes, brightness is great but have you noticed the dynamic range, it’s incredible!

I agree, I am blown away with the overall quality and performance of the 16" Pro Max I just picked up and I am very picky. The screen is unreal for this size and price point. Color and uniformity beats almost any screen I have seen across high end TVs and monitors. Sounds was surprising good, if I was to nitpick I would have liked a tad clearer highs but it is still the best I have heard from any laptop.

The intel
MacBook has better sound the highs are nicer and the clarity

Did I get a bad batch, because I was not blown away by the sound. I do love everything else. Its so freaking fast.
Yeah the sound is a downgrade from the 2019 intel MacBook Pro, they made such a show about this new speaker system and with thicker body they could of made it sound better but it’s worse, without the highs it sounds flat

That's what I was thinking. They made it seem like it was a going to sound like the HomePods or something.

Yeah apple made a lot of claims in the keynote that got me excited but so far everything is a let down apart from the speed of the machine, can’t believe promotion is 60hz using safari

I completely understand people wanna justify what they payed but I wish people were more honest with the truth, yes the machine is good and the power is unreal, but when claims are made like promotion and much better sound when both are not better and there’s a real issue with pro motion in safari and the sound being not as punchy than the last one then people have to be honest; apple do a lot of talking but sometimes you have to criticise, sorry if you guys wanna hear ijustine like wow it’s amazing but I’m not that person, others agree with me on many issues, compare 2 MacBook Pro’s side by side like I did for hours and see for your self; even the brightness isn’t much better and hdr video looks more or less the same, the sound isn’t as loud and it’s more flat and basey compared to the crisp loud high balanced sound on the intel machine, it’s unacceptable for apple to release this saying it has promotion when clearly in safari it’s not working.

Why do you feel it's up to you to rain on everyone's parade? Weren't you returning your laptop before you even got it? Safari browsing at a higher refresh rate can be handled with a single update if Apple finds it to be a problem for customers.

I heard the signs in the store In was amazing. Now just have to decide what to keep (base 14 vs $2499 model). No time to even try it yet due to a game lol

Why did not a single reviewer mention any of these things?

You don't like punctuation do you? Your entire post is 1 sentence. Man just wants to get it out - no stops.

Intel 16" sounded great until the fans kicked on.

The audio seems like a personal thing, and the refresh rate for safari doesn't seem like a big deal. We know it's variable. I'm looking for the refresh rate to be higher for video and such, I wouldn't care about scrolling. Apple can change the refresh rate with an update if they think it's necessary

I put it side by side with my 2018 mbp playing the same HDR content. Reminded me the first time I saw 4K content. I was speechless

Really? What types of 120fps videos are you watching? Curious to know.

Been using this laptop for a day now and I have not noticed the Safari issue people are talking about. It's really smooth on all sites I have been on. Can someone send a specific site that the issue occurs?

If I was to guess Apple is either following the bass heavy Beats trend or they spent so much time on the woofers they didn't tweak the tweets/mids to match the heavier bass. The muted highs are the result of stronger bass.

All in all this is a fantastic laptop, this is one of the more satisfying purchases I have made in a while. There is no such thing as perfection, that definition differs from person to person.

Do you own one, and if yes, are you keeping it?

And why drag extreme negativity into a 'I love it' thread?

You know what that's called, right? :D

Please, use some common sense and start another thread, or comment in one of the MANY critical threads.

thanks!

I've come from an Intel machine and the display is nowhere near as bright as the M1 Pro's. I've tried a few Dolby Vision/Atmos content and the picture looks amazing. The spatial audio feels fuller than the traditional stereo speakers before this and well made.

Intel machines sucked. Stop raining on everyone's parade just to attract attention.

EDIT: My only gripes are the 60Hz in Safari and the lack of an option to increase the brightness beyond 500 nits for the SDR content.
