why did you buy it in first place as the iMac 27" isn't something most people buy as a impulse buy , i mean if its collecting dust after just one year means you are either not using it at all ,or neglecting it , so why would you want to spend money on upgrades or mods as neither upgrading or modding will come cheap

honestly i'd like to know because it doesn't make any sense to me

It looked cool.
Why did you buy it in the first place? What tasks is it not capable of now that it was capable of when you bought it?

I was going to use it for PS but figured that the magic mouse wasn't so comfortable and my Lachesis' DPI couldn't be configured so I just left it...there.
May I ask why you refer to it as old at only 1 year? Did you buy a different, a newer, computer to use and that is why it is collecting dust?
It was manufactured before fall of 2009. The time lapse is over one year. Hence, one year old computer. Or do they don't age?
I'm sure your iMac is bored with you. Seriously? You bought a $2600 computer and you're "bored"? It doesn't entertain you by itself.

If you mean you don't USE it, you didn't need to BUY it.
If you mean it doesn't do what you want it to do, its capabilities are not significantly different from this year's iMac offerings, so you bought the WRONG machine.

Get a hobby. And do your homework before purchasing.
Didn't really ask for your opinions. lol. Don't get sour about it. ;)

AWESOME!

could please someone convince my bank manager
that i need to buy a iMac 27" to convert it into a ants farm , it would look awesome

and to the op , yes Mac's do not age
and Mac's become classics

i use a iMac 17" core duo from 2006 and dont think its "old" as he does what i ask him to do ,
its just i like the 17" form factor , and matte display , and white case , the only reason i didn't get a newer iMac

hmm wondering is this is the TS way of getting around the rules about Marketplace and posting stuff for sale. if your board sell it on Craigs or Ebay just search ebay for your model track a few to get a price idea. Ebay also has history feature. if your so board you've hardly used a year old computer a few mods aren't going to matter. sell it too somebody that will love it.if your board get rid of it it's that simple!

I must say... i get bored with my stuff pretty fast too. And I really have to control my self not selling all my stuff and buying something different. I recently got rid of my iMac and bought a Macbook Pro which is now hooked up to a 26 inch screen. I wanted to get rid of all that screen estate and now i even have more :D I used to have a Mac Mini because i got bored of my first iMac... i think i'll keep my stuff from now on.

i am actually the same with the little difference i forget to sell , instead i collect them , soon i have a small apple museum have now 15 Mac's the earliest is from 1997 the most recent from 2006/7 (build 2006 but shipped mid 2007) :D

I don't get "being bored" with a computer. Computers are inherently boring. Apple makes much less boring computers than anyone else, granted, but it's still basically a boring machine (note: not a boring-machine. That's a very different thing.) You put it on your desk and it fulfills a purpose. This is like saying "I'm bored with my coffee maker" or "I'm bored with my refrigerator" to me. You pick out the one you really like and then you live with it, use it, and that's it. How do you get bored with it?

Agreed! I think what they really mean is that they're wanting the "next big thing" thinking that it's somehow going to be different because it's newer or a different form factor when in reality, it's just a different tool to do the same thing.

Well you did actually... And as others have said, computers are extremely boring, it's what you do with it that counts. Obviously you lack imagination and creativity to make your computer entertain you.

You could give it to me, there's 7 people fighting over one pc at my house (Untill xmas when I get half the money for a macbook and get that on finance:D),

why not see if you can link them up for something? I heard of someone linking 8 ps3's to make a super computer once.

What board? The mainboard?

Dunno, it IS silly, but i don't know... its all about just wanting to have something else, something different, some emotional feeling towards an object, the fun of something fresh and new, so you go buy that new thing, ... (the chase is better than the catch) and you end up with the same thing ^^
