It's not a house, it's a home.
My first post here too...

The last apple I had was in the early 90's...I don't know what model it was. It had the first CD-ROM capabilities I had ever seen and it was also the first computer that I ever accessed the internet on...And then I discovered the PC for some reason...But now I'm ready for a Merom Mac Book Pro 17 Inch...Obviously Mac's have progressed extremely extremely far since I had one last, I am just wondering what some of the "Must Know" things are so I can be ready when I get my glorious new machine. Can't wait!

Macs are very, very capable machines - congrats on your decision!

The only thing I found difficult to get used to was the menubar at the top of the screen - now, however, I've grown to love it. That menubar is, in my opinion, one of the most consistent features of Mac OS X - almost every program utilizes it.

In Vista, there are menubars, toolbars, palettes, and wizards to deal with - each differing by program.

The links above are a good place to start. If you want to spend some money, there is the ever popular, and oft recommended, Mac OS X Tiger: Missing Manual by David Pogue (or the Switchers edition, if you think you need that).
