IM clients will not connect. don't think it's due to the clients.

i was using aMSN until a few days ago but now none of the clients will connect, i've tried windows, fire, adium, mercury, various versions of aMSN with no success. The only client that will connect is aMSN however it just says "connecting to switchboard" and wont deliver messages when trying to talk to people, i understand this is a common problem, but i can't actually connect to any client, which leads me to believe it's not aMSN. i've taken my router back to factory settings, and i've tried changing connection settings in amsn and other clients and this doesnt seem to help. any ideas!? thanks.
