As you see I recently made 500 posts. While I am happy that I have an avatar (yawn) I am adding up in my head how many hours of my life have been spent over the last few months writing about one brand of technology to a bunch of strangers. I could've spent that time with my family, or exercising, or working, or paying attention in class, or eating...
Demi's and 601's, 603's, what do you do all day?
Say it takes me an average of five minutes for each post I type:
500x5=2500/60=41.6 hours. Almost two days. Egh. That doesn't ever begin to count all the time spent lurking.
Heres looking to the next 500.
Have a nice day.

hah. you put it so well. i don't usually take 5 minutes per post, because most of mine are short and worthless.

it's also worth noting that many people post at work, so they don't blow off family, they blow off THE MAN!

I hope it didn't take you 5 minutes for the 1:59 post :D

So you are really only looking at 41.59 hours.

Yeah. I guess I think about that when I spend so much time on forums...

But, I least we gain insignificant knowledge and the occasional help when we have problems.

Yeah I spend a lot of time on this forum and a car forum. Its not healthy.

Also are Demi's people who helped pay for the site? So they could have just sent in their money and had one post and spent the rest of the time with their family and friends. Granted we know its not true but just pointing that out.

I'm working towards my first 100... but that said i only post when i've got a break in my work... so some days thats more than others... and i rarely post at night... also posts like this generally only take me 30 seconds.:D

I'd have to say that my posting here is a way to talk to the hubby who also posts here when we're both away from each other. And to pass some time when there is a lull during the lonely hours of the day. The joys of working from home....

It's the people who've registered here in the last year and are already 601s or....ehm....603s. :p

I post when I'm on Christmas and Spring break and have absolutely nothing else to do....during school I stick it to the man and post during free periods, though as you can tell by my post rate, I'm not that skilled at that. :D

My post count would probably be higher if I hadn't lost so much time to WoW. My main character's playclock: 38 days. :(

You guys need to learn how to be spamalicious so you can post more efficiently. I peruse MacRumors instead of TV. I think this place is healthier.

I don't think this place is necessarily a waste of time.

(Time to read thread, make post and submit: 27 seconds)

Crab people tend to have different views of what is a waste of time eh? :p

Well, that was probably a waste of 27 seconds. Now it's up to 30...

I like to think this place has taught me a bit about computers, the internet and different people's perspectives on anything from repairing permissions to the shaving of bodily hair.

Yep. ;)

Well, its not that much time spent on MacRumors... think of all the other websites you visit.

Argh, I read the threads and am not too quick. Check everyone's avatars too. Wish I had one. I figure another three years unless the rules change. :(

Same here.
Jew, are you a Mac Genius or something? What gives with the seemingly infinite Apple knowledge? Are you secretly Steve pretending to be an aussie?
27 seconds? What is your WPM reading rate?

I post while working, while watching telly and while programming at home. Usually I post when my mind gets tired of the main activity and I need a little distraction, so I apologise for all my posts that are incoherent, off topic or just totally meaningless because my mind was in a haze at the time of posting.

I also tend to post when I get home drunk. ;)

Ha, I wish. :D

I'm just completely mad but everyone still seems to take my posts seriously... :p
