I'm very fortunately blessed with very quick reading skillz, as well as mad scan reading skillz, so I can scan through 10 pages of new posts and pick the ones that look interesting, open them in tabs and read them pretty fast. Then due to far too long spent typing essays at the last minute and talking to friends on IM my typing skillz mean I can reply to posts fast too. It's all good. :) Oh, and I have the attention span of an ant, so tend to be on the net while watching TV and suchlike.

The downside of these mad skillz is you tend to run out of books to read. My mum was forever getting the arse at having to take me back to the library every weekend. :p

I really need to start going to the library; my reading habits are burning a hole in my wallet!
As for the typing skills... they have vastly improved since I first joined MR.
I am probably the fastest two finger typist in the world!
I could try making quickie posts but I am such a grammar and wording nazi that I usually edit multiple times before submitting...:(

Hey, you think you put a lot of time into your posts? Try hanging primarily around the Political Forum! There, you have to really think about what you want to say. (A dumb, errant comment can get you into a lot of trouble.) You also have to quote (and sometimes edit down) news articles, provide links, offer a rationale for your own arguments.... All of that takes time! :D

On the other hand, you do learn some things...even about yourself.

Like...I just made 65816! :D

I spend a lot of my time on the web, so I am a member of various different web forums, and generally I come and go on the different forums. Some forums I have more posts than others, and also it depends if I am doing more posting or talking. Recently the two forums that I have been spending a lot of time on is this one and QRZ.com. I have a lot more posts on QRZ.com, but I have been a member there since June 2001. I joined this forum one evening when I was bored and looking for PowerBook pictures. Since then I have enjoyed coming here and sharing my thoughts. When I get a MacBook Pro I suspect I will have a lot more to say, as I will have had a lot more experience than I have now with the Mac and also will get a chance to do some experiments and post a lot of different things.

Do I think it is a waste of time? Certainly not. I love how the net connects people and also how the net can be used to share ideas. I spend a lot of time on the net, and for me, it isn't about wasting time, but also about connecting myself with the world. Then again, I have alway sbeen a computer nerd, and so I have always spent a good number of time in front of the computer.
