Why would you guys want to lose about 5 hours of battery life just to run Mac OS X? Just curious.

On Windows the Mini 9 gets about 3 hours. It get an even longer time 3 1/2 - 4 hours running Mac. Where did you get a nine hour battery life from? It has a 8.9 inch screen. That's why it's called a Mini 9.

I went with the budget build... about $600.
Basically the same as the $1200 iMac but with a better video card.

My Geekbench (not overclocked) is 7800

If you splurge and spend $1000 or so you can build a i7 hackintosh that kicks the pants off of anything Apple offers.

It's kinda sad. :(

I think Apple needs to do more incremental updates to the Mac Pro line.
Buying a $2500 computer and getting 1.5 year old hardware just sucks.

Heh, the last thing I would do is build my own computer and run Steam on OSX. I'd at least dual boot for that for the massive performance boost in Windows

I have steam installed in OSX on may hackintosh, but i only used it once before i realized how awful it is compared to the windows version. At least i was smart enough to avoid the 10.6.4 update and completely kill the performance.

For me, the all-in-one nature of the iMacs justify the higher price - considering that I get a really nice screen, too.

However, I agree completely that the Mac Pros are overkill and overly expensive, and if I want a tower, I'll do a hackintosh. Didn't know the Mac Pro cases are so cheap on eBay. Tempting!

Doesn't the Mini 10 get a rated battery life of 9 hours?

what is an "advertising agency?"... They still have those? I thought they mostly went extinct about 5 or so years ago...

BTW, how come the developer's website and support site for your app says this...

"Server not found

Firefox can't find the server at www.wemakeyourmark.com."

let me guess, you are not in the USA, right?

So says the guy with terrible design aesthetics :D

Yes, Ad agencies are still around.

Thanks, I do quite well actually.

and at least I have a website.

what country are you in?

Ad agencies are so....1998...unless you are in Bosnia, then they are cool.

Anyone can have a website :)
McDonalds is doing well, too :)

Apparently you have no idea how the corporate world works. That's because you don't work in a professional environment.

Good luck nickel and diming with mediocre design.

That's what I did. I spent < 1,000 (after rebates) for an Core i7-930 that's a beast. I cannot believe how little I spent and how much performance I got. i7-930, 6 Gig of ram, GTX260, 500 gig HD and an awesome computer :D

I'm actually running OSX within vmware and its performance is near that of my MBP, with the exception of graphics performance which isn't surprising in that its within vmware (I don't play games so that isn't a big deal).

I cannot say I'm done with apple hardware, but its even more difficult to justify paying such a high premium for mediocre technology - just take a look at the MBA or the 13" MBP for examples. Over a grand for a C2D machine.

That's right, when we see the products which are using commodity items and are placed in a beautiful case, it's hard to justify the cost to yourself.

When you look at the iPhone/iPad with SoCs designed especially for those products, it's more appealing to just buy the entire package straight from Apple.

Who do you think makes the flyers for Bestbuy, Compusa, Bed Bath and Beyond Etc... Advertising Agencies.

I think you're stuck on the "hollywood" image of an ad agency.
In the real world we don't have racket ball courts in our offices... unless you work for Google. ;)

And yes good point, that website is down as I have since transitioned over to a new domain.

Any monkey can have a website. nice one.

Back on topic. Hackintosh.

Exactly.. Back in the G5 days you were actually getting something different for your money. Now it's just standard off the shelf Intel parts.

Apple still rules leads the pack in Notebook or All in One (iMac) but the Mac pro is looking less and less appealing.
