yeah Warhawk is freakin awesome and is getting a lot of community support.
Uncharted is a must have, as is Ratchet and Clank:ToD. Burnout Paradise is supposed to be outstanding as well. I would rent Heavenly Sword (5-6 hour game but pretty fun with outstanding production value) Motorstorm is fun if you are into off road racing and gets a TON of updates, new tracks, new cars, etc. Resistance, while somewhat generic, still looks good and has a very deep online community behind it. Call of Duty 4 is fantastic both single and multi player. Look into pre-ordering games like Hot Shot Golf 5, GTAIV, MGS4...
If you have an HDTV, it would highly recommend picking up a couple of Blu-Ray movies, namely Casino Royale or Ratatouille if you wanna see what stunning picture looks like (and both are great movies to boot)
Download (the somewhat scarce) demos like mad, the new MLB demo is great and looks a-w-e-s-o-m-e, and maybe a few PSone Classics or whatever Sony calls them (Castlevania soo good) and try out remote play if ya got a PSP with some slow paced PSone games.
Download some themes as they really enhance the rather sterile minimalist look of the PS3 UI.
Have fun
Can't suggest anything that hasn't already been said...COD 4 for sure though.
Both the Orange Box and Warhawk (with headset) are on sale at Target this week. $39.99 each.

I'm selling my 360 and going the PS3 route for Warhawk and Blu-Ray movies. I checked out Target and sure enough they show Warhawk for $39.99, but also show the $59.99 one. Both have the same description. I wonder whats up with their site. Also, do we know if this version has the wireless headset that comes with Warhawk?
So OP... Don't get Lost Planet...
We should all strive to only comment on games that we have already played...not simply take other people's opinions for fac
The PlayStation 3 version features a noticeably jitterier framerate, in comparison to the Xbox 360 game. The framerate becomes rather cumbersome in the snowier portions of the game, as well as hiccuping when there's a giant boss running about. I actually found myself getting a little motion sickness thanks to the combination of a stuttering framerate and the falling snow
On the Xbox 360 both the single-player and online game modes featured some of the most impressive visuals seen on the console, but on PS3 something went rather wrong. From the moment you set foot on the first snow-covered level the frame rate hits a major snag and it feels like you're walking in treacle. This sluggish frame rate continues throughout the game and it really hurts what is otherwise a visual treat. At times during a few of the boss fights the game became barely playable, with the frame rate dropping to completely unacceptable levels.
The other issue is the insane amount of slowdown and frame rate drop. By now, since the game has been released on two different systems, you'd expect slowdown issues to be kept to a minimum, if it occurs at all. Not the case -- Lost Planet seems to crawl if you get more than five enemies on screen at once, and considering that the game frequently swarms you with Akrid monsters, this doesn't work well at all. The longest one that I noticed was close to 30 seconds in the middle of a battle, as I was facing off against Akrid and Nevec soldiers at the same time. That's pretty bad.
That brings me to another problem however, which is that the game doesn't look good, especially if you've seen it on other systems. Compared to the 360 version and the PC, everything on the PS3 version looks like its run through a gauzy, pixilated filter. Instead of finely detailed textures, many of the game environments have blocky, rough textures and heavily aliased edges. Instead of fine particles for smoke or snow, the particle system is harsh and weakly defined. Character models look somewhat out of focus or blocky, especially when you are running through battlefields. It doesn't feel as though the game takes advantage of the PS3 at all.

I've notcied with all "previews" they'll tell you what you want to hear then in the review they'll completely flip it and tell you how bad the game really is....they build up the hype machine only to flatten it in the final review.
