Very true. How has it worked in the past? When were the Penryn chips released, and how long after until Apple had them in their machines?

Based on what I found in Google, the Penryn chips were released in November 2007 and the new Penryn MacBook Pros were released at the end of February in 2008. So, if the new Arrandale chips are released in January, they might not make it into the MacBook Pros until April.

Re: I'm in a real pickle

Hopefully you're a Vlassic, and not some dancing pickle wannabe.

Well I cancelled the auction. I am going to keep the 13-inch MBP for a little longer. I found a great deal on a Dell s2409w monitor and ordered that yesterday. I'll wait until next year and then decide whether or not I want to spend the extra cheese on a 15-inch with the new processors.

Thanks for the advice, info, and suggestions. Later.

I realize that we can't stay current with tech, but one or two months is different. If it was going to be 6 or 8 months, I would just go ahead and buy. I don't want to spend $1,600 on a new machine and a better one come out the very next month. That just wouldn't be logical. My eBay auction ends in two days and I am going to be without a computer.

Thank god you finally learned what is truly "logical". In no way would it have been logical for you to resell your fairly new computer just to buy an iMac for a few months, simply for a bigger screen to get you by while you waited for the new 15" macbook pro's to be released. You would have been taking 3 big hits (New 13", New iMac, then new 15") instead of just keeping the 13" and getting the external monitor.

You just saved yourself a lot of money.:)
