I'm not saying the old design was incredible but come on…

As I said in the post that started this thread "I'm not saying the old design was incredible" but I do think they have gone too far in the opposite direction for the sake of change. I don't see how anyone can look at the new Newsstand and think, that looks 'premium' or 'classy' either. It looks like no effort was put into it.

Please explain how it was ugly. Do you recoil in horror when you see a real bookshelf? I don't understand the hatred of skeuomorphism to be honest. I understand a graphical interface doesn't have to look like the real life counterpart but what precisely makes it so horrible?

To my eyes, the new newsstand looks a lot cleaner and uncluttered, which is what I prefer, I want to focus on the content. If I wanted the mahogany feel of a finely crafted wooden bookshelf, I would much rather look at a real life specimen.

As for whether it's ugly or not, well, there's no point debating that issue as it is clearly a subjective point. In general when someone claims something is ugly like I have done, the assumption of "in my opinion" is usually implied and doesn't need to be explicitly said.

From day one we were told that iOS7 would be a more sleek, modern OS...which it is.
There's nothing sleek about looking at a big old wooden bookcase.

I'm not saying I hate iOS6 in any way, but I do see the cosmetic updates as 'good' for the most part with iOS7.

thats the point of a minimal design. it's to not have too many details. :apple:

Funny, I thought that the APPLE Moto was >>> "It's All in The Details" now all of a sudden everyone has amnesia...WTF?

This iOS design is god aweful and as lack luster as when I first started using APPLE back in 82 when it was just green print on a black screen:apple::apple:

Come and report back in 4 weeks when you will be wondering how you put up with the antiqued, cluttered look of iOS 6 for so long.

Where have I seen this kind of design before?

Right!

That's the kind of thing I do in Adobe Illustrator when I'm searching for ideas to commit to and push through to production. It all looks like an unfinished prototype someone hacked up in 15 minutes with vectors.

What a disappointment coming from a company who used to value high-end graphics. I don't care how you try to spin this stuff, because in the end it doesn't change what iOS 7 is- the bar has been lowered so much any idiot with a vector program can replicate Apple's new "style".

Sorry bro.

Apples new moto is Designed by Apple in California.

Not designed by haters in macrumors.

And here I thought "Think Different" meant they were allowed to change things up once in a while...

iOS7 is a much cleaner, modern look compared to past iOS versions...I'm very ok with it.

You all heard it right here from a fan(boy)! Wood is cluttered and antiquated compared to... Several silver boxes with white lines separating them

Really, do you get paid to shill for Apple?

Definitely not an Apple Fanboy here...but thanks for the assumption.

I'm not opposed to change, and definitely not opposed to a sleek interface.

Something doesn't have to be more complicated/in-depth/textured to be better than another version...as someone in this thread mentioned earlier, it's become more about the content, and not complicating the cosmetic design.

When compared to iOS7? Absolutely...
I guess to some no design and a bunch of plain colors and empty space is actually some sort of a design. While I don't think some sort of real life shelves are needed, I also don't think that some abatract minimalist representation of something is a good alternative...how about a balance between the two extremes?

So then obviously you'd prefer everything to be square textureless boxes? I mean that would be even simpler right?

Can't believe people are defending the new P.O.S design on the right.

I guess there's no accounting for taste -

I agree that it was so easy to pick up. Everything seemed equally as intuitive as past iOS. I have no complaints.

It has a very minimalistic design. Very much opposite of the past. I appreciate the "simple" design, maybe because I like fact that finally we have some change. Love the control center too!

I love my 4S 2x more.

your post is nothing new. I see it all the time when a company changes its logo to a clean, flat design. ex. microsoft, yahoo, spotify.

again ios7 is a minimal design, what don't you understand about it?

Alright then, here is the new apple logo:

Look at that, clean and efficient! I should get hired to work on other artwork!
