Saw a youtuber do it. I was inspired. First attempt at spray painting anything. About half way done. Colors are matte black with OWC blue highlights (to match their ram) Also gonna put a little captain america shield stencil on the middle deck fan just for fun.

Ill update a couple more times. Let me know what you think or if you have suggestions. Not sure if im going to paint more of the 1080 ti yet or not. For now, just the blue bar and black screws.

oh and specs - 2x5690 - 1080 ti FE flashed - 128gb OWC ram :)

Nice ! the galvanised finish in the standard cMP gradually gets tarnished & unsightly from finger oils + grime etc. I might try this when I get some spare time.

Can you post some pics when the project is finished ?

How easily does the paint scratch? I suppose I could try this on my spare G5 Quad, but since those are more relatively rare, maybe I should pick up a dirt cheap MP1,1 since there are lots of those.

Im using Krylon Paint and Primer all in one. Im only using 1-2 coats (which is not enough for resiliency) The paint scratches easily for me. But mine will be babied on display once done, i wont handle it hardly at all. I would assume people who know more about painting could prevent it from being so easily scratched? But I dont know. I have 3 units, so i get 3 attempts per part lol

It would probably be pretty cheap to take the parts to an auto body shop and have them paint it for you.
The case itself could be anodized in black very cheaply.

Paint is not forever, but it can last longer if, after it has cured, a couple of polyurethane coats are applied. With the polyurethane coating it is much more durable.

Getting there! I realized i have to paint the 2 cpu fans... And ive decided to leave the 1080 ti as-is on the basis of not feeling like taking it apart again. :) Waiting on my Cap stencil to arrive and then i should be about done

Neon lights?

I modified a black MacBook to have the 2009 2.13GHz logic board and the ports are light inside dark, looks just like yours.
