Odd thing happened recently, I’m receiving mail to someone with the same name as me , ....@me.com

Should I be worried or is this normal ? I suppose there’s only so many variations on names you can have

Do you mean the same name as your @icloud.com account? If so, you own the same name at @me.com (from the old MobileMe days) and @mac.com (from whatever Apple called their online service before that).

My suggestion would be to verify the internet header, for that email (Google how to do this), then dump that information in MX Toolbox’s Header analyser.

Based on the results, look at the line “return header”. See if the details are legit, or not...

I think jzuena is correct. I've seen it happen several times that my email addy changes from my Mac.com one to the iCloud one for sending emails. If that happens, then the reply will be to that address.

One slight change however, I think you only have the Mac.com addy if you signed up during the Mac.com days. If you created your account after it was changed to me.com, then you only have iCloud.com & me.com addy. If you created your account after the transition to iCloud, you only have the iCloud.com addy & not the me.com or Mac.com versions.

I signed up in the MobileMe days and I still have a Mac.com address. They are all CNAMEs for the same account, so passwords are the same for all three.

I signed up in the me.com days (probably on/shortly after the iPhone 4S release date) and don't have a mac.com address. I just tried it and it failed.

I have been receiving other people's mails for ages, but in a gmail address. At least 3 different people with similar names and living in other countries give my email address as theirs (mistakingly, I assume).

Same here... same first initial, same last name. What's the strange or most private thing you've received?

I got some guy's pay stub once... regularly get Home Depot receipts from a guy in New York, K-Mart receipts for a lady in Cleveland, doctor bills, emails confirming doctor appointments (and VET appointments), invitations to business trips (including full itineraries), invitations to reunions, parties, etc... and lately a chick in North Carolina's receipts from New York & Co... have received job offers, loan statements, and more... it's really bizarre how free people are with their finances and personal information...

The @mac.com only works if you had an active @mac.com email address... but yeah, the @me.com and @icloud.com are aliases of each other...
