I'm in DFU mode, I changed the hosts file. Everything seemed to go right and then all of a sudden I get a message saying that an error has occured (1). What does this mean and how do I fix it? I'm trying to downgrade from ios5 to 4.3.3.

Unless you have SHSH blobs save, you can't. Apple stops signing 4.3.3 and that the reason you can't downgrade firmware on your phone.

We actually talked about this on another post. Many people are having this problem. Its not just you. We all had our shsh saved but still getting error messages, looped in dfu and such. Dont think anyone has cracked this one yet. I believe it has to do with apple, not our end.

So there's no way to get my SMS messages or my address book back? I didn't do a backup but I did extract the files from the root.
