There are news that Google Maps and Waze have the CarPlay support added and tested in the internal betas. But luckily for the Koreans, one of the most popular smartphone navigation apps in the country, Kakao Navi, has just been officially updated to add CarPlay support.
I have the iOS 12 GM installed and running on my iPhone X, so upon installing the new version from the App Store, the Kakao Navi icon appears on the CarPlay screen.
It works very similar to Apple Maps, so that means that the 3rd party navigation apps won't be allowed to use their own UI.
I've written up about the first impressions in my blog, for those who are interested.
