Hi everyone,

I currently am very tempted to go for the AW 6 with the graphite finish. I would love to hear from any owners on their opinion on the graphite including any pros or cons you have came across.?

I would really appreciate any feedback as I can only purchase online and not see the watch in person...

Luco - if you look around the forum you’ll see a lot of discussion on the graphite, along with pros and cons.

I was very tempted to get one myself, but ended up ordering something different.

It’s certainly a very attractive finish.

Major Pro:

It includes DLC [Diamond Like Coating], highly durable and protects against damage. Probably the biggest advantage to the graphite.

A lot of it will be personal preference, taste etc.

But for me Graphite is the best finish for the watch. However I have always favoured darker colours.

Depending on the light it can either look like Space Black or a smoked Silver (it never looks like full on Silver, I have a SSS as well and side by side it's always very obvious which is which, in any light).

I used to have SB which is also DLC coated and it's pretty bullet proof. It can be marked but it's much much harder to do so (just be careful if you want a Milanese loop). If it is marked, you can't polish it out.

The downside to Graphite are with bands that have silver hardware. Silver lugs look terrible IMO and even the silver pin on sport bands irriates me on the Graphite, even though you can't really see it. I wear them but I know it's there 😅

I think the easiest summary for me is if you like darker shades, Graphite is an excellent choice. If you favour lighter colours and brighter shades, maybe not.

I love the graphite. I came from an S4 SS Space Black and then an S5 ceramic. Because the space black and ceramic are not an option for the S6 except for the Hermes, I chose the graphite over the titanium and much prefer graphite to the titanium. The titanium is great but I really like the graphite because it changes colour with the light. It looks black under dark conditions and grey in outside conditions and almost silver in sunny conditions. Plus it has a DLC coating.
As mentioned it doesn’t look good with bands that have silver lit’s but that doesn’t dramatically limit your choice of bands to wear with it.

Haven't seen the graphite in person but haven't cared for the photos. Just not the Space Black of the SBSS S4 & S5. I moved to the SBTi for my S6 and am very happy with it.

Can't really comment on the finish, and durability

but my first (a S0) was black, the 2nd and third I bought have both been "silver".
I switched to silver because the black body was harder to pair with bands. To me, a dark watch body with something like a fully silver Milanese loop doesn't seem to go together. Same for a black body and a band with silver hardware.

If you're going outside of the basic Apple multi-colored options, you might want to give a little thought about how it's going to look with various bands.
There's a really good selection of cheaper bands, so don't say you'll never get another. It's nice to be able to dress it up a little for special events and swap out the band from the one you use daily.
My Milanese loop is from amazon, and was under $20.

Thank you all kindly for the replies it's very much appreciated.! I was going to open a separate thread asking about suitable straps as you guys have highlighted certain straps not pairing greatly, something which would also bug me...🤣
