    Hi everyone,

This past weekend I finally convinced my Mom that she should buy her fist mac - the base 20" 2.0 iMac. When I got the system home, I immediately upgraded to Leopard. All was well until today. She took a photo of the screen and sent it to me with some crazy shapes on it. She was able to restart the computer without holding the power button.

My question is...I thought the iMac problems were fixed? Does anyone else with the standard 20" 2.0 model have any troubles?

I have a 24" 2.8 iMac that had freezing until the firmware update, but do not have any more troubles.

The freezing fix was for particular models with the 2600 graphics card. Your 2400-based model was not included in the firmware fix. I gather the problem was not as widespread with those machines. It definitely looks like a bad graphics card. Call up Apple Care and arrange for a repair/replacement ASAP.

    20" iMac freezing

Yeah I think that is a good idea. Can you walk back into the store and get a replacement? She is within her 14 days.

    Thanks!

As long as its in stock and a standard model. Call up the store before you try.
