Interesting debate.

My take on it is, if the original poster is still doing this comparison (and he's actually played with a Mac in a store) then he should probably buy the PC.

I'll be buying another computer soon and the question for me is simply 'which Mac' because I love the design of both the boxes and the UI. But if you're budget conscious and want a box to get the job done Windows really isn't as bad as some on here would paint it.

What you shouldn't do is buy a Windows box if you really wanted the iMac. Now that would be a waste of cash...

My Mac has crashed more times this year that my PC.

That says it all! (I.E. that this is meaningless)

You're right TBi. I shouldn't have taken someone's legitimate concern and tried to make a joke. I admit openly that, although we tend to think the opposite sometimes, Macs aren't completely infallible and do have their problems.

I just recently bought a 24" iMac 2.8Ghz and am loving it. Of course I'll try to steer you toward choosing the Mac, but like others have mentioned it ultimately comes down to what you are comfortable with and what you will be doing with the machine (PC or Mac). I wish you success in this difficult decision and hope to be reading the results soon!!!!

Interesting debate.
No it's not, IMHO. It's the wrong argument. It's really a Windoze vs OS X issue. It always has been. To choose based on which box might crap out the most over some time period is pointless. Given enough time *something* will happen to whatever box you get. In the meantime, between failures, what OS do you want to be using? Windoze? Unix? OS X? Get a Mac. Want a coherent interface? Want better integration between programs? Want to minimize hassle day in and day out? Get a Mac. Want a sierra-hotel gaming box? Get a PC w/ windoze - for anything and everything else, get a Macintosh. The last twenty years of using both has only affirmed my opinion again and again and again...

I agree with radarbob, its windows vs osx however if you never used osx it can be challenging, i remember when i made the switch 4 years ago i was researching for like 2 months debating my self whether to get a mac or not lol

so if you happy with windows get a pc if you dont and want to try OSX get the mac :)
