Hey guys,

torn between two 2007 iMac 24".

one has these specs:

Apple iMac7,1 / T7700 / 4GB
Ram / 320GB HDD / HD2600

and two:

Apple iMac 7,1 / X7900 / 2GB
Ram / 500GB HDD / HD2600 /

they are same price, and come with 12 month warranty, but is it worth taking the 2gb and upgrading, as that is 2.8 compared 2.4 standard and like i said, worth it over the 4gb?

cheers,

RTJ

sorry guys,

if i can get a quick answer would be great, i just don't want it too be sold anytime soon as they are a big online retail store also.

thanks, RTJ

The 2007 imac is easy to upgrade the ram through a flap on the bottom so I would get the one with the more powerful processor.

Well we're probably too late to give advice here but I thought I'd offer some clarification, as someone who still maintains one of these 2007 aluminum 24s.

4GB vs 2GB is night and day, since these have pretty mediocre (performance-wise) hard drives. Way more of a benefit than going from 2.4GHz to 2.8GHz on the CPU.

Assuming that the poster is price-sensitive and getting this machine for about $300 or so, $60 to bring the RAM up to 4GB (from 2 1GB DIMMS) is actually quite a lot proportionately.

I'm hoping he went for the 4GB machine anyway...
