    Hi,

Over the weekend I decided to install Yosemite on my mum's 2008 iMac.. but it's now running really, really slow! We no longer have the discs that came with it, but I have the ones that came with my 2007 iMac, can I use those to restore my mum's to it's original state? Or is there another way I can sort it? :)

    Thank you!
    Amy

Try with El Capitan. It should be faster than Yosemite.
If you need and older version of the OS you should be able to download it from apple's site.

No... those grey installer disks are model specific. I agree with gian... try El Capitan and if you still have trouble post back here and we can try and help you out.

Thank you both :) So far I've repaired disc permissions etc and it seems to be running ok on Yosemite so far. If it continues I'll try El Capitan next :)

    Thanks again!

You should try El Capitan anyway. I would also recommend a clean install for optimal performance.

Thank you :) I've tried that, and so far so good! It still freezes the odd time, but since I repaired disk permissions it's working better!

    Thank you
