so i have the late 2009 iMac 24 inch base model it is equipped with a c2d 2.66ghz and 4gb if ram 2x2 that i clocked at 1067mhz

so i have a question i just order more ram but can't help from feeling buyers remorse

it has a integrated graphics card with is the nvidia integrated

the computer only supports 1067mhz ram

so i heard somewhere that even if the computer cant recognize faster ram the integrated graphics card can meaning faster graphics memory

is this true making it a mistake to just have bought 2x4 gb of ram for this computer off owc or should i have bought faster ram for the integrated graphics thank you

If that is a late iMac, you should be able to upgrade to 16GB. Which is a sweet setup and you probably won't need more than that. They are still DDR3 chips and not much slower than what is in the iMAC now. 1066Mhz vs 1333Mhz.

If you have the base Nvidia 9400M, which is indeed a shared memory setup.
Not sure you would benefit from faster memory for most applications. You are still limited by the amount of Video RAM at 256MB.

You would definitely benefit with more memory though if you are at 4GB or less now.

No it isn't late I wish it was but it is a 24inch so if upgrade to 8gb it won't have 512mb of VRAM thanks

nope graphics card stays at 256MB, under windows it can recognize more though.
8GB is max, not 16 the other poster said.
Graphics card wont be able to use RAM at 1333, if the system only recognizes 1066. If the system is limited to 1066 so is the GPU.
Sadly there isnt anything you can do to increase graphics performance :( Sorry bro

BTW, latest 24 inch iMac was a early 2009. late 2009 were the 21.5 and 27 inch

At first he said it was a late 2009 iMac, which can run 16GB max as it was upgraded to 4 memory slots. Early 2009 is maxed at 8GB (2 slots).

Though I shoulda realized it was an early 2009, as the late models were the unibody design and the first 27". I didn't look at it that close.
So basically you are what you are. At least you can bump up to 8GB.
