Good afternoon, I have an iMac 2009 core 2 duo 3.06 E7600
socket 775
TDP 65w
1066mhz
Note: This iMac also came with a core 2 duo 3.33 processor E8600 socket 775 TDP 65w 1333mhz.

I made some memory changes to 12gb, SSD 250gb, the machine has improved a lot.
I recently purchased a core 2 quad Q8400s processor
socket 775
TDP 65w
1333mhz

It doesn't justify not working, but it doesn't even turn on the screen, I reset the vram, I disabled the EFI (operating system) and nothing.
The reason is that it is not compatible with the video card, which is nvidia 9400?

That story could successfully end on Windows (IBM) machines, but not on Macs because of the firmware that is isolated from you

Yea on the PC. Even if the CPU isn’t in the BIOS. You can often modify it and add the microcode. At the risk of borking the computer.

I don’t know of anyone whose managed to hack a Macs firmware.
