Is there any equipment that will allow you to play your ps3 through the new iMac
What do you mean by through?
Do you just want to use the screen as the PS3 display?
or are you looking to control the PS3 from the iMac's keyboard/mouse?
For the former there are USB TV tuners you can buy with widely varying degrees of quality, some of which have a serious display delay which makes gaming through them impossible.
For the latter, just plug the USB cable of the keyboard in or pair the bluetooth
I suspect he means the former. OP, look into the Elgato Eyetv hybrid, as it's marketed for console use. Note that there's a bit of lag so it might not be suitable for online play.
If you're referring to feeding an HDMI signal from the PS3 into the iMac's Mini DisplayPort (in order to use it as a standalone display) then I believe you need something like this... http://www.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=508267
ew, that "accepts" 1080p but converts down to 720p output
Yeah, unfortunately all the ones I've been able to find seem to only output 720p to the iMacs but can go higher when connected to Apple LED displays. Here's two more:
I not sure but these no longer work with the iMac 2011 due to the thunderbolt port
Ah yes, I was forgetting that the 2011 models don't have their Mini DisplayPorts anymore. Although both Kanex and Atlona appear to mention on their websites that they are working on an updated version for Thunderbolt.
